Newhaven LV Darts League

CROWN SPORTS BAR v BLACK HARTS

19th April 2012

The final game of the year. The Crown had to win to claim the Division 1 league title, which has been held by the Engineer A for the last 7 years!

SINGLES

1) Welsh Wizard ‘Gotta Go’ v Glenn Stubbly: Lost 1-2

The Crown’s lead off man thought hard in this one levelling the tie at 1-1. It was all down to the finishes in the decider, however the Welshman missed a couple of handfuls leaving Glenn to take the first score.

2) Denmark v Kevin Easton: Won 2-0

After being one down this was a crucial tie for the Crown. Denmark managed to produce some excellent finishing to give the Crown a massive victory and settle the nerves. A superb season again for Denmark only losing one game throughout the season. Denmark also receives best leg of the year award for his 401 9-darter against Vic Sexton.

3) Saveloy v Mull of Kintyre: Won 2-0

After the disappointment of narrowly coming second in the House Champs last week, Saveloy redeemed his finals loss with a straight forward victory. A best season to date for Saveloy who somehow only lost one singles game throughout the season.

4) Marcho v Geoff Easton: Won 2-1

Major nerves from Marcho in the first leg allowed Geoff to take the lead. He pulled himself together in the second though and easily levelled the match. The nerves were back again in the decider as a dramatic leg ensued with both players missing a shed load at the doubles. Marcho finally took in on D1, Emotional! Marcho has had a terrific season in the singles matches and must take to award for most improved player, though his chillis have gone downhill!!

5) Cyclops v Dougie Fresh: Won 2-0

With the Black Hearts short one man, The Crown only needed one more point to win the title. Although Cyclops was uncharacteristically nervous and missed a few doubles, he was able to fend off Hilly and secure the Crown as champions. Another excellent season from Captain Cyclops who also only lost one singles game all season.

Cue Nick at the jukebox for ‘We are the Champions’ on the stereo and a flipping hot chilli to celebrate.

TREBLES

6) Denmark , Zorro & Saveloy v Geoff, Young Easton & Hilly: Won 2-0

The Crown three signed off in style and never gave their opponents a chance. Particularly brilliant scoring by Zorro led to an easy two nil win.

7) Cyclops, Hoady & Marcho v Glenn and Kevin: Won 2-1

A good effort from the Black Hearts main men took this tie all the way and produced a crazy celebration from Mr Stubbly! Who was obviously chuffed. No problems in the decider though as the Crown notched up their sixth victory on the night, why all the nerves!!

THE CROWN ARE DIVISION ONE CHAMPIONS An amazing achievement and a superb effort by all involved. Roll of honour: Cyclops (captain), Denmark , Saveloy, Marcho, Zorro, Crossbow, Hoady and Grant (new nickname – Barney Rubble?)

WON 7-1

UNLUCKY TO STEVE LICENCE WHO LOST 3-2 IN THE FINAL OF THE HOUSE OF CHAMPIONS ON THURSDAY 12TH APRIL

CROWN SPORTS BAR v THE ENGINEER B

05 April 2012

The penultimate tie of the year between the top and bottom teams in the league. The Engine B also turned up with 5 players which didn’t help their cause. The Crown had the bear 6 with Crossbow retiring! and no Zoz or Super Hoad who were on their holidays.

SINGLES

1) Welsh Wizard ‘Gotta Go’ v L. Greenall: Won 2-0

The Welshman is improving every week at the moment. Another fine victory in pretty swift fashion.

2) Grant v Ben Lyle : Won 2-0

The inform man of the moment, Grant, gave his opponent no chance with two 15 dart legs, superb play.

3) Saveloy v B Lyle: Won 2-1

Lovely scoring from Sav, but no finish in the first to go one down. Sav managed to keep the scores going and finally found some finishes to keep him in the game and finish off his opponent.

4) Denmark v T. Barnes: Won 2-0

Sim was back to form this week as he quickly demolished his opponent.

5) Marcho v P. Butler: Won 2-0

Both legs were well contested but Marcho kept his nerve and hit the important finishes and take the tie.

6) Cyclops v Local add-In: Won 2-0

With his opponent hitting the ring surround occasionally, there wasn’t a lot of pressure on Cyclops for this one. Nothing spectacular but another win for the Crown.

TREBLES

7) Grant, Wizard & Denmark v L. Greenall, B, Lyle & T. Barnes: Won 2-0

All players were suffering a bit after eating the Marcho’s intense chilli. No threat form the opponents though as the Crown three set up the whitewash.

8) Saveloy, Marcho & Cyclops v Ben, D. Butler and Local add-in: Won 2-0

Some excellent scoring form the Crown easily wrapped up this tie.

A superb whitewash for the Crown. Just one more game left where maximum points are required. COME ON.

WON 8-0

CINQUE PORTS v CROWN SPORTS BAR

29 March 2012

An away tie at the local rivals who were now using the tricky corner dartboard with a chalkboard so far away the scorer couldn’t see the board, normal!

SINGLES

1) Welsh Wizard v Ash Robins: Won 2-0

A comprehensive performance by the red faced Welshman. No difficulties in this one as he cruised to victory.

2) Zorro v Ross Anderson: Won 2-1

An excellent first leg by his opponent meant that Zorro had to dig deep in this one. He did manage to grit his teeth on some weird give up smoking tampon device in his month and clinch the tie on the old faithful D18.

3) Marcho v Chris Poynter: Lost 1-2

With a busy barmaid running round the oche and constant heckling, Marcho was up against it in this one. After easily outscoring his opponent in the first leg he missed his double and Chris then finished with one dart. Again good scoring by Marcho in the second helped him level. Unfortunately more misses on the doubles in the decider allowed Chris to take this one.

4) Saveloy v Spectacled Cinque Port 1: Won 2-1

After going ton, ton, Sav went on to miss absolute shed loads at the doubles but just grabbed D1 before his opponent capitalised. Again strong scoring by Sav in the second but more missed doubles was punished as his opponent superbly checked out 118. Tighter scoring in the decider, but Sav upped his game and narrowly missed a 125 finish on the wire. He then polished off 38 in 2 darts for the win.

5) Cyclops v Spectacled Cinque Port 2: Won 2-0

Cyclops was not quite in his usual devastating form and nearly allowed his opponent a leg. But the usual top quality finishing was enough to take this one and put the Crown on the brink of victory.

6) Denmark v Daz Tullett: Lost 1-2

With the Crown just needing one more point, they felt confident as unbeaten Denmark stepped up. It wasn’t to be though as the new improved Daz was able fend off the Crown man and keep the Cinque Ports in the tie.

TREBLES

7) Cyclops, Saveloy & Wizard v Chris, Ross & spectacles 1: Won 2-1

A nervy start from the Crown three allowed an impressive Cinque Ports to take the lead. The Crown fought back to level and although the Welshman done his best to annoy Cyclops, he did set up D11 which the big man finished with one dart for a Crown win.

8) Denmark , Hoady & Zorro v Daz, Ash & spectacles 2: Won 2-0

Even scoring throughout, with the Crown’s finishing proving to be the difference as they took both legs.

A gritty performance by the Crown for the crucial win in their last away game. Just two more games to go which must be won, KEEP GOING THE CROWN!

WON 6-2

HAMPDEN OLD GITS v CROWN SPORTS BAR

15 March 2012

A tricky away tie made more difficult without Captain Cyclops. The old gits plus Ze German were looking up for it and had Sesame street puppet Statler and Waldorf lookalikes sitting right next to the dart board for extra intimidation.

SINGLES

1) Zorro v Old Git No. 1: Won 2-1

Not an ideal start for Zorro and he was quickly behind. Everyone feared the worst in the second leg as it was close but Zorro edged it. Then the Crown man put his foot down and easily took the third for the win.

2) Saveloy v Big Old Git No. 2: Won 2-0

Sav had his work cut out against the slowest player in the country. A couple of tons in the first leg and quick finish gave him the lead. Terrible scoring in the second until Sav hit a 140 which after a few missed doubles made it two zip.

3) Welsh Wizard v Ze German: Won 2-1

A bit of a language barrier in this one with nobody understanding a word the Welshman was saying as Ze German spoke perfect English! After celebrating his countries rugby triumphs, the Welshman turned up a bit out of sorts with no darts, no shirt and not a lot of brain cells!! Using Denmark’s darts he couldn’t hit a thing and went one down. After giving Ze German a few chances to win, the Welshman bucked up his ideas and just sneaked a victory.

4) Denmark v Paul Treagus  No. 3: Won 2-1

A majorly out of character performance from stand-in captain Denmark as he struggled to hit a 20 let alone a treble. This gave his opponent the lead but he was determined to keep his unbeaten record this season and just managed to see this one out and give the Crown a 4-0 lead.

5) Marcho v Alan Easton: Lost 1-2

Best game on the night was tightly contested. After going 1 leg up with ease Marcho looked comfortable, but with a ton, ton, high start to the 2nd leg Marcho was soon behind and lost this leg .All was going well in the decider with Marcho on 85 finish he felt confident with Alan still on 177.Hitting treble 10 with the first dart, going for a single 15 second dart, but alas hit the treble, thus leaving double 5 Marcho’s nemesis. This he missed, Alan then throws a 137 to leave tops, and with Marcho missing a hand full Alan duly hit it first dart.UNBELIEVEABLE.Marcho gutted.

6) Crossbow v Younger Old Git: Lost 1-2

The crossbow was completely missing firing at the beginning of this one as he hit a total of 32 with his first 9 darts. Crossbow came back and levelled the match. Unfortunately, it was the crucial doubles finishing that cost him as the Old Gits pulled back another.

TREBLES

7) Saveloy, Denmark & the Wizard v Old Gits 1, 2 & 3: Won 2-0

The pressure was on as Denmark fielded a strong side in the first treble. A tight first leg was finished nicely by Sav hitting double top. He then banged in a ton to start the second and the Crown was looking good. A few crap scores later led to Denmark stepping up and finishing nicely to give the Crown the crucial fifth win on the night.

8 ) Zorro, Hoady & Marcho v A. Easter, Ze German & Younger OG: Lost 1-2

Each leg was tight as this one went to a decider. The Crown boys had their chances but couldn’t finish Ze pricks! Up stepped the Old Gits man of the match, Alan Easter, who finished nice to take the win.

A nervous but terrific result away from home and with no Cyclops. The team remain top of the league with just three games remaining, COME ON THE CROWN!

WON 5-3

PEACEHAVEN BULLS v CROWN SPORTS BAR

01 March 2012

Top of the league versus third in this crucial tie for the Crown at the Schooner and the Bulls were loaded up with new recruits.Whereas the The Crown were still missing The Welsh Twat who was on skint leave.

SINGLES

1) Grant v Lee tall bloke: Lost 1-2

The first of the Bulls new recruits started well and eased into the lead. In what has to be one of the slowest matches I’ve ever seen, Grant took his time and hit tops to level leaving his arm in the winning throw position for at least a minute! A close third leg left both players missing doubles but it was the Bulls who took the lead.

2) Denmark v Jake Watts: Won 2-0

The doubles team mates went head to head and Denmark was in serious mode. The first leg was close but Denmark took the lead. A superb second leg by Denmark levelled the match. After today Denmark is the only undefeated Crown player in singles matches (must be getting all the easy games!) A superb performance so far this season. Denmark has now been unbeaten so far this season , good man.

3) Saveloy v Des Healy: Won 2-1

Sav struggled out of his sick bed but in the first leg should of stayed there after playing like a tool hitting a variety of 1, 5 and 12’s. Somehow Sav got his act together and after nearly going for the wrong double finally took out 10 with 5-1-D2. Eventhough he was struggling to see! Sav battled on in the decider taking a nice lead. However after missing doubles Des nearly took it but Sav pulled out another 10 finish with 5-1-D2 to win it, an amazing performance with a diseased brain!

4) Zorro v Stuart Hope: Lost 0-2

Zoz hit three tons and a 140 in this matchup, unfortunately he was playing Mr inform. Stuart carried on his superleague standard and hardly missed a treble each handful taking the tie 2-0 giving Zoz no hope.

5) Cyclops v Phil Gray: Lost 0-2

The crucial tie of the match pitted the big man v the elimination singles finalist. Phil was obviously in confident mode as he hit a few tons and finished nicely for the lead. Gaz looked like he turned the tide in the second then mysteriously couldn’t hit a double, as well as struggling to hit the Lipstick in this KEY leg lol. Phil took advantage to give the Crown a big shock.

6) Crossbow v Ray Allison: Lost 0-2

Crossbow developed a small jerking action in this one particularly during the crucial moments. This put his aim off and gave Ray the opportunity to sneak both legs and give the Bulls a 4-2 lead after the singles.

TREBLES

7) Denmark, Marcho & Zorro v P & N Gray & R. Allison: Lost 1-2

A great start by the Crown three to go one up and it looked like there would be a final showdown in the last trebles. The second leg didn’t go well and it was all level. Some good scoring gave the Crown a lead in the decider but after missing over 9 darts at the winning doubles the Bulls took the match.

8.) Grant, Hoady & Crossbow v S. Hope, D. Healey & Some big geezer:

Well with The Crown conceding defeat ,this trebles was thrown together as Cyclops had other KEY issues to sort out ,and give them there due they won with outstanding darts to reduce the score line.

LOST 5-3

A better performance is required in future if The Crown is going to steal the title from The Engineer.

WHITE LION v CROWN SPORTS BAR

23 February 2012

The Crown’s more friendly local derby held at the White Lion was a must win to ensure their title challenge kept on course.

SINGLES

1) Marcho v The Dutchman: Won 2-0

Marcho just back from Thailand looking like a bronzed Adonis. A bit of jet lag with his scoring though as each leg was tightly contested, but Marcho managed 100% finishing by hitting the doubles first time to take both legs.

2) Denmark v John Hillier: Won 2-0

John managed to put in some high scoring in both legs. But it wasn’t enough to upset Denmark who with his usual calm and collective approach scored and finished superbly to put the Crown two up.

3) Crossbow v John Treacy: Won 2-1

Crossbow looked in control in the first leg but just couldn’t hit a double as the famous snatch appeared again. He then made amends in the second to level and in the decider finished a ton with 5-T19-D19 to extend the Crown’s lead.

4) Saveloy v Gaz Wollen: Won 2-0

Poor scoring from Sav allowed his opponent a few shots to take the first leg, however these weren’t taken and Sav pounced. In the second leg Sav scored better and opened a nice lead then took out an 80 finish for the win.

5) Zorro v Kev Woodward: Won 2-0

The big grudge match between the ex flat mates. Zoz was more focused than ever, he was eyeing up the treble 20 like a BBQ rib. As usual the food came out when he was playing, Gaz showed him a plate of sausages waiting for him and he upped his game further and took out his favourite D18 for 1-0. Kev never really showed the form he produced last week in the fours allowing Zorro to finish the job two zip and give the Crown an early match win.

6) Cyclops v Mike Treacy: Won 2-0

After recently earning his 100th cap for Sussex County , Cyclops was in good spirits. Unfortunately Mikey was scoring like a county player and gave him a run for his money in the first leg, but Cyclops just sneaked it. The second leg was more straight forward for the big man as Mikey ran out of steam enabling him to check out an 80 finish.

TREBLES

7) Denmark , Hoady & Saveloy, v Kevin, J. Hillier & The Dutchman: Won 2-1

A straight forward first leg for the Crown as Denmark beautifully set up D16 which Sav finished to take the lead. The Crown boys fell asleep in the second though as the opponents levelled. However, the decider was never in doubt as Hoady whacked in a ton then Sav followed up with another ton which led to Denmark checking out D10 with one dart for victory.

8) Marcho, Zorro & Crossbow v J & M Treacy and G. Wollen: Lost 1-2

A good start from the Crown three gave them the lead. Their form then deserted them and they were unable to complete the whitewash. The Crown missed handfuls to win it which allowed the White Lion to fight back and take the final game.

Thankfully the White Lion finishing let them down on occasions which helped the Crown avoid this potential banana skin.

WON 7-1

CROWN SPORTS BAR v THE ENGINEER A

09 February 2012

The crucial league tie which everyone had been waiting for. Both teams pretty much had full squads with the only absentee being Marcho who was busy holidaying with three pigeons and a couple of lady boys. Tensions were high and it showed as the pub has never been so quiet.

SINGLES

1) Grant v Adam Hart: Won 2-1

Some excellent scoring from Grant in the first leg gave him the advantage. After both players missed a shed load at the doubles, Grant took a 1-0 lead. Adam then hit back in the second with a 180 and quick finish to level. It was equal scoring down to the doubles in the third. Again both players missed many darts for the win, but it was Grant who cooled his nerves to give the Crown the lead.

2) Denmark v Darren Woolgar: Won 2-1

Darren took the first leg and Denmark levelled. Then it was all down to nerves as both men missed several shots at doubles, especially Darren who missed 9 at D10! Denmark kept his cool and it was 2-0 to the Crown.

3) Welsh Wizard ‘Gotta Go’ v Andy Sexton: Lost 1-2

Even though the wizard hadn’t seen his darts for weeks, he managed to pick em up and hit numerous T20’s. Again this one went all the way to a decider which the wizard only just lost.Wrlsh Twat sorry mate had to add that bit lol(marcho)

4) Cyclops v Lee Overton: Won 2-0

The captain stepped up to give the Crown control of the match again with a straightforward victory.

5) Saveloy v Ammo: Lost 0-2

After finally having a good win in the superleague yesterday, Sav was unable to follow it up and played like a tit all night. Ammo was in his usual devastating form and quickly took care of this tie.

6) Crossbow v Damage: Lost 0-2

Yet another tight game with equal scoring throughout. The only difference between the two was Crossbow’s horrific snatch on the doubles. He had two chances at double top in each leg and they both hit the centre of big 5! This enabled Damage to checkout and level the match 3-3 after the singles.

TREBLES

7) Denmark , Grant & Wizard v A. Sexton, A. Hart & Terry: Won 2-0

The Crown just needed to win one more to secure at least an important draw. This was another tie which went to a decider. At a critical point, Grant thumped in a 180. Both teams were on a double to win and it was Denmark who claimed the glory with D10.

TREBLES

8) Cyclops, Saveloy & Zorro v Ammo, D. Woolgar & L. Overton: Won 2-0

A one man show in the first leg as Cyclops hit two 140’s in between which his teammates contributed a couple of puny scores leaving the big man on double top which he took out with one dart. The Crown could now smell victory. Sav just about hit a 60 to set up double tops for Zorro. With the opponents on a finish, Zorro stepped up and put his first dart right on the D20 wire, great marker, then his second dart hit the number one! And the crowd had their doubts. But his third dart was right in the centre of D20 and the crowd went nuts.

A superb win which puts the Crown top of the league and leaves them with an excellent chance to take the title which the Engineer A have held for yonks.

WON 5-3 JOB DONE made Marcho a very happy boy

THE CROWN SPORTS BAR V ENGINEER C

The first game of the new year at the Crown, and being top every game a must win. A difficult game was ahead with the opposition having caused a few upsets in there time.

SINGLES

Mark Ayres v Ray Gay Won 2-1

With a nicely ironed shirt on could The Welsh Twat do the business in this crucial opening leg against a wily campaigner in Ray. Well coming from behind in the first leg Gotta Go went one nil up but still not hitting any form. This form followed him in the 2nd leg and with good scores from Ray it was soon 1-1.Mark then started the final leg with140 and 85, which put him in a good position and Ray could not catch him. So with 16 double 8 finish The Crown went one nil up “nice one Sophia”.

Zorro v Matty Walton Lost 2-0

With Matty checking out on 134 Zoz knew he was in for a battle. Zorro now sporting a new 4xl shirt (borrowed from Marchos old stock) started the 2nd leg but alas it was not to be and Matty punished him to win easily against SLIM.

Marcho v Little Peaty(Green Street) lost 2-1

Having battered the rest of the team in practice including a 180,Marcho was full of confidence to beat his nemesis. Steady first leg to which Marcho was leading comfortably till Pete bunged in a score to leave him on a finish, but felt good to take it .2nd leg was going the same way and again Pete throw a score in when it mattered, but that was where the leg stopped being a dart leg and went in to marathon mode with both having 360 darts at a double and Pete eventually getting double one. The third leg was the same as the other two and again the cagey ol git throw a score when it mattered and took it out next throw to win the leg. Paddy it was all your fault lol.

Denmark v Gary Smart won 2-0

On paper this tie could have been a close one , but with Denmark not working Friday and with the lager flowing his form did not desert him to win the first The second leg was another story Gary could not hit a barn door and in 21 darts Denmark finished it leaving Gary still on 305 to put the match at 2-2

Crossbow v D Smart won 2-0

A slow start by Phil put him behind but with a well-timed ton and 65,left him with 54 ,this was taken out with ease BANG ON 1-0. Crossbows form did not leave him in the second leg and took out 5 convincingly  “NOT”. The Monday night Captain is starting to show his potential and give it a few more years should be able to push for a regular spot and team shirt lol.

Gary Edgar v  Bim Smart  won 2-0

Gary not feeling quite the full shilling due a tiresome day of meetings could have let this one slip. But “no way Jose’” as Gary did not ease up to win this tie comfortably.

TREBLES

Cyclops, Denmark & Crossbow v engineer trio

Going in strong on this game to ensure match victory, it was never in any doubt as the Chicken Wing juices sent the opposition grip into slip mode lol. Victory was had and Marcho was a happy bunny ,sorry there’s only one bunny, he was happy anyway or cidered pickled onioned.

Zorro GOTTA GO & Goad the hoad lost in a very uneventful tie. Sorry lads forgot to watch it.

The Crown Sports Bar 5 Engineer C 3

Black Harts v The Crown Sports Bar

A nice little train trip took us to Newhaven, which was a bit more subdued this week with the absence of no. 1 supporter  Frank “it don’t matter” Ellis, and a little walk to the White Hart how pleasant lol

SINGLES

GLEN THE LANDLORD V DENMARK WON 2-0

Glen was never allowed to get going as Denmark was quick off the mark to win this tie quickly and put the Crown 1-0 up.

M BREWSTER V MARK “GOTTA GO “AYRES LOST 2-0

Well Sophia Mark scored quite well in the first leg but missed doubles lost the leg. Even though Mark had a raging tooth ache (more like face ache) he managed to get down to 25 left, he  went for in what can be described as “what a thick welsh twat” by getting a single 12 and double 6 . What a plank he then lost the leg red faced and ashamed.

NEIL MAC V CROSSBOW LOST 2-0

Well Crossbow never got any near the form he hit last week. It was rumoured he had got a part in a Guy Ritchie film SNATCH because of his throwing technique. Alas Crossbow lost easily 2-0.

DOUG H V MARCHO WON 2-1

Nothing special in the 1st leg with Marcho going for a bull finish to leave 25, yes Mark 25, which he took out comfortably with a 9 double 8.Marcho steamed ahead in the 2nd leg busted on 24, to which Doug took out double top to make it level it.Steady scoring in the third left Marcho with 60 which he finished in three darts and nearly walking on the second dart but a good win all the same.

KEM V ZORRO LOST 2-0

In the captains words “cockhead lost 2-0” and to be fair he was right. ZORRO showing signs of a weight problem as he did not have the team shirt on due to the fact it did not fit him, and thus taking over the mantle of being bigger than Marcho lol.But back to the darts he was rubbish.

GEOFF V CYCLOPS WON 2-0

A very comfortable win in quick time for the Pompey man.

TREBLES

KEM GEOFF AND DOUG V MARCHO MARK AND CROSSBOW WON 2-0

With the match standing at 3-3 team selection was critical; with Gaza having the choice 2nd making it easier in these must win trebles. By putting out his weaker side in the first trebles the Crown trio brushed them aside with ease with good scores from Crossbow and Mark and some good finishing.

M BREWSTER, GLEN AND NEIL V DENMARK, CYCLOPS AND HOADY WON 2-0

No messing from the Crown duo with Hoady chucking in the odd low scores to make up the trio, this game was won at a canter giving the Crown a fine victory of 5-3.

THE CROWN SPORTS BAR WON 5-3

ENGINEER B V CROWN SPORTS BAR

PLAYED 5TH JAN

WELL WHERE DO I START, AH YES GOT THE TRAIN TO RIB COUNTRY WITH PUBLIC NUISSANCE NO.1 ON BOARD.WITH THE TEAM MISSING ONE OF THERE SUPER LEAGUE PLAYERS ( HE IS NOW BUSY CUTTING SOME SHAPES ON THE DANCE FLOOR ABROAD) SAVELOY WE TURNED UP WITH FULL ENTHUSIASM EVEN WITH FRANK “IT DON’T MATTER ELLIS.”

SINGLES

C GREENALL V MARK”GOTTA GO” AYRES WON 2-1

Well Sophia what can I say Mark went 1-0 down playing like a complete tit, Mark then sneaked the 2nd leg Christ knows how as he was being heckled by a very loud northern twat who by then to be fair was putting both players off with his “it don’t matter outbursts“. Well in the third leg things did not look good for Mark but THEN !!!!!!! Mark threw a 180 and with a 63 finish managed to win this tie to put The Crown one up.

S.LIMBORN V PHIL(ZORRO WHITLOCK) INNIS LOST 2-1

With a steady first leg (THE OTHER IN PLASTER) Zorro managed to win but alas he made errors and lost the 2nd leg. With an even Steven third leg ZOZ left himself with 78 with which he managed to get down to double one (cock) and lost, but well played to both as the heckler was not making things easy for both.

T BARNES V SI “DENMARK” MORRIS WON 2-1

Denmark cruised to a one nil lead , but with the insults flying Terry threatened to take the annoying shit heckler outside. At this point the was taken outside by Marcho and sent via a late taxi home. Denmark was soon behind in the 2nd leg but made a slight recovery just missing a 90 something finish but alas Terry then finished 3 double 4 to take the leg. But consistency showed and Denmark took the 3rd leg for a good victory against a hard opponent. By now the FRANK fan club had almost ceased to exist lol.

T BUTLER V P (CROSSBOW) MERCHANT WON 2-0

With Marcho outside taking care of the heckler and Gazza making sure he was ok this game was over to quick to comment, but Phil said” I was mustard never missed a double, best game I played all season”
Poppycock there had to be a twitch an snatch throw there somewhere.

B LYLE V CYCLOPS WON 2-0

With a tight 1st leg with Cyclops just getting the edge, Cyclops then blew Ben away with 100-140-45-116 finish to take the tie to 2-0.

N MARTIN V MARCHO WON 2-1

Marcho played like a complete cock first leg ,this was probably due to hyperthermia having been outside for a good 30 mins, lost it. Then boom a 15 darter completed by a 108 finish to go one all. BANG BANG SHERLOCK. The third leg Marcho was down to 48 in 15 darts only to be allowed to finish 11 darts later for a fine victory to make the rest of the league to look up at this hard to beat player who is now back drinking no nerves so watch out lol.

TREBLES

With the Capt more interested in the finer points of darts(drinking and smoking) both trebles were won at ease for a marvellous rib sandwich event.

CROWN SPORTS BAR AND HECKLER 7 ENGINEER B 1

CROWN SPORTS BAR v CINQUE PORTS

15 December 2011

A local derby tonight against bitter rivals. The Crown, sitting pretty at the top of Division One, take on the team without a win at the foot of the table. For the first time we had a full team turn out and Crossbow finally remembered his wallet!!

SINGLES

1) Welsh Wizard v Ross Anderson: Won 2-1

After some exhibition darts by the Welsh Wizard in practice banging in a 180 and hitting numerous T20’s, it came to the game and he couldn’t hit a thing! The Wizard just about struggled to find his range, but not his shirt tonight, and did enough to scrape through and give the Crown another good start.

2) Saveloy v Daz Tullett: Won 2-0

Terrible start from Sav, but a lovely 100 finish took care of the first leg. Then the tons started coming in the second leg and he was on for a 12 darter. Unfortunately his finishing took another 12 darts and finally he wrapped it up on D1 for his fifth win in a row without dropping a leg.

3) Zorro v Ash Robins: Won 2-0

A more cheerful Zorro tonight, until he started playing! Zoz continually cursed at the board, but with his opponent applying little pressure, he was able to pick off his favourite D18 for a straight forward victory.

4) Crossbow v Micky Judd: Won 2-0

Decent scoring from the Crossbow was nearly ruined by major snatching on the finishes. Luckily his opponent didn’t threaten and a couple of snatches hit the targets to take the win against his old teammate.

5) Denmark v C. Poynter: Won 2-0

Denmark won this one at a canter against the C.Ports mouthy heckler! He took out an 80+ finish on the Bull to piss his opponent off which we all appreciated. He then checked out 76 to easily demolish his opponent and give the Crown another early victory on the night.

6) Hoady v S. Brann : Lost 1-2

Hoady had his chances in the first leg, but the doubles eluded him. He fought back in the second and managed to take it into a decider. Hoady is improving but is still throwing a few dodgy sets of darts as he started the third leg with a 7 then hit a 9! He caught up though but unfortunately with 47 left Hoady couldn’t find his way to a double and his opponent finished quick.

TREBLES

7) Denmark , Hoady & Marcho v M. Judd, C. Poynter & S. Brann, : Won 2-1

A straight forward first leg win for the Crown, but then some poor scoring allowed the Cinque Ports to level. Better scoring in the decider and then it was all down to Hoady who stepped up to check out D2 and then celebrated in style.

8) Saveloy, Crossbow & Zorro v R. Anderson, D. Tullet & A. Robins: Won 2-0

The usual slow start from the fantastic three, however Crossbow, who wasn’t fazed by the oppositions ‘Judas chants!’, finished first time to take the lead. Much better scoring in the second from the Crown allowed Sav to take out D4 for a forth straight win for the trio.

Captain Cyclops left himself on the bench tonight to enable the squad to prove they have some strength in depth. The Crown remain top of Division One into the Christmas break with 5 wins and a draw.

WON 7-1

CROWN SPORTS BAR v HAMPDEN OLD GITS

08 December 2011

A top of the table clash between the joint second teams in league one made difficult with no Captain Cyclops tonight. The winners would overtake Engineer A, who had no game, to go top of the league.

SINGLES

1) Welsh Wizard v Old Git No. 1: Won 2-0

Mark was looking unusually sober, which must be why he managed to find the pub this week! It was a pleasure to have him back though. He showed he was a little rusty with some dodgy finishing, however managed to get the ball rolling in a tight game with an excellent victory.

2) Zorro v Ze German: Won 2-1

Zoz is having a challenging time at the moment and started with a face like thunder. His off the board difficulties obviously affected him as he lost leg one. His opponent looked to have the better of him in the next leg too, however Zoz slowly started cheering up and managed to sneak the second. Ze German pressurised Zoz again in the decider but luckily it didn’t go to a penalty shoot out and Zoz took the win.

3) Marcho v Micky Gates: Won 2-0

Micky flew out the gates in the first leg but missed a shed load at double 2. Marcho sneaked up and quickly finished to take the lead. Marcho then took advantage of throwing first by banging in a sensational 160! Another ton and good scores followed. Then Marcho took out 91 in text book style hitting treble 3, treble 20 and double 22! for a magnificent 15 darter. A terrific win against one of the better Old Gits.

4) Denmark v Malcolm Parsons: Won 2-0

It was business as usual for stand-in captain Denmark . I didn’t see much of this one but it was another straight forward victory. He must be struggling to remember the last time he lost a singles game!

5) Crossbow v Younger Old Git: Won 2-1

Crossbow finally found some of his old scoring power taking on one of the better Old Git players. He scored and finished well to go one up. He then had a chance to take the second but done one of the biggest snatches I’ve ever seen, nearly falling over the oche, when going for double top. He hit a 5 and it was 1-1. A very tight final leg could have been anyones, but Crossbow had the nerve and gave the Crown early victory on the night.

6) Saveloy v: Old Git No. 2: Won 2-0

Sav started well hitting ton, ton and some other nice scores in the first leg. Then he couldn’t finish and only just sneaked it to go one up. Nothing spectacular happened in the second, but Sav managed to rack up another singles win.

TREBLES

7) Denmark , Hoady & Marcho v Younger OG, German & M. Parsons: Lost 1-2

Marcho hit a 140 in the first leg but it wasn’t enough to stop the opponents taking a lead. Good scores by the Crown in the second and a quick finish by Denmark levelled the tie. It was very tight in the decider but the Old Gits managed to finish to chalk up their first win and stop the whitewash.

8) Saveloy, Crossbow & Zorro v OG No. 3, M. Gates & OG No. 4: Won 2-1

An awful first leg by the Crown allowed their opponents to take a lead. A couple of tons by Sav and a one dart finish from Crossbow put the tie into a decider. With Crossbow back on scoring form, the Crown took a lead. Zorro took advantage and hit double 10 to notch up a third straight win for this terrific Crown threesome.

A splendid result winning all six singles without main man Cyclops on board. The team go top of the league after five games, COME ON THE CROWN!

WON 7-1

CROWN SPORTS BAR v PEACEHAVEN BULLS

24 November 2011

No Denmark tonight and the Welsh Wizard disappearing again left the Crown under strength in a crucial tie against potential title contenders. No sexy young girls in the pub tonight, welcome back Marcho!!

SINGLES

1) Marcho v Ray: Won 2-0

A highly important match up commenced well for Marcho as he hit the scores and finished neatly to go one up. Everyone was waiting for the nerves to show, but no, Marcho kicked on and repeated the first leg to batter his opponent impressively and set the Crown up for the night.

2) Hoady v Stuart Hope: Lost 0-2

A very difficult match for Hoady versus Peacehaven’s number one player, he quickly found himself one nil down. Stuart strangely struggled to finish in the second leg, but Hoady was unable to capitalise this time as the Bulls levelled.

3) Saveloy v Phil Grey: Won 2-0

After becoming a two time pairs champ in November, Sav was feeling optimistic. However, good scoring to start was ruined by poor finishing and it was anyones first leg, but Sav just about scrapped it with D2. The reverse in the second leg by Sav as he scored poor but took out a 70 finish to win.

4) Crossbow v Des Healey: Lost 0-2

In need of a confidence boost, Crossbow was unfortunately matched against the in-form Des. With only glimpses of his former abilities showing, Crossbow was unable to stop Des taking this one allowing the Bulls to level again.

5) Zorro v Nick Grey: Won 2-0

Another crucial tie on the night and thankfully Zorro saw a return to form. Nice scoring and tidy finishing was enough for Zoz to take this one and then hop back to his chair.

6) Cyclops v Lewis: Won 2-0

A great start from Cyclops hitting a ton then 140 was spoilt slightly by his finishing, however was able to close out the first leg. It was all straight forward in the second leg as the ice cool captain gave the Crown a 4-2 lead after the singles.

TREBLES

7) Saveloy, Cyclops & Marcho v S. Hope, D. Healey & Lewis: Lost 1-2

A terrible start from the Crown three in the first leg was somehow won when Saveloy took out an 83 finish on the Bull. The opponents levelled in the second. Then the Crown got their act together and stormed into a 300 point lead leaving themselves on D12. However, after 14 missed shots at a double the Crown boys blew it big time when Stuart stepped up to finish 122 to give the Bulls Hope.

8) Zorro, Crossbow & Hoady v Ray, P. Grey & N. Grey: Won 2-0

So it was all down to the three Phils to try and get the Crown an important win. The opponents took the lead and were first to a double. Then the man who was salmon like last week turned into Phil ‘the Power’ Hoady, with the help of some commentary from Crossbow, Hoady pulled out an incredible 112 finish, 15-57-double top, to take the first leg, Top Man. This seemed to destroy the opponents confidence as our Phils out scored the Bulls in the second which was finally won when Crossbow hit D7 for the match.

Cyclops masterminding the singles selection and a marvellous team performance puts the Crown second in the league with a game in hand.

WON 5-3

CROWN SPORTS BAR v WHITE LION

17 November 2011

The first home game of the season was obviously well anticipated as the Crown was packed to the rafters with people. Even a few sexy ladies were scattered about which must have been because Captain Marcho was off sick tonight!

SINGLES

1) Denmark v Stuart Orr: Won 2-0

A very difficult first tie for Denmark , but his usual quick finishing was good enough to take the first leg. Then after Stuart hit a 180, Si caught up and again finished quick to give the Crown the lead. The Crown will find it difficult next week without Denmark and his regular singles win.

2) Welsh Wizard v The Dutchman: Won 2-0

The long awaited return of the legendary Welshman. It was like he was never gone as by the time his game came up, he was completely pissed. This didn’t show in his throwing action though as he easily swept aside the tall Dutch fellow for a winning comeback. Then it was ‘Gotta go!’ and the Wizard went home to his new flat to celebrate.

3) Saveloy v John Hillier: Won 2-0

Although struggling for a win in Wednesday’s Super League, Saveloy kept up his winning streak for the Crown. Nothing spectacular in this one but some nice quick finishes.

4) Zorro v M. Treacy: Won 2-1

Chef for the night Zorro had a bit of a paddy in the first leg, flinging his darts in anger to leave himself a 3! It appeared the temporary club foot had taken its toll, but at one nil down Zorro managed to calm down and fought back to easily take the second and then deciding legs.

5) Hoady v B. Woodward (Kev’s Brother): Lost 1-2

Hoady got off to a flier in his first singles match of the season, hitting some decent scores to take the first leg. Again Hoady kept up the scoring to go close in the second and third, however he unfortunately kept leaping up like a salmon when going for the winning double which cost him dearly.

6) Cyclops v John Treacy: Won 2-0

The remaining players in the opponents team weren’t too willing to take on the big man until the Landlord finally stepped up. This seemed to faze Cyclops slightly as the big scores didn’t come tonight but he still managed to take another victory without losing a leg.

TREBLES

7) Saveloy, Zorro & Crossbow v S. Orr, M. Treacy & B. Woodward: Won 2-1

The chilli and tortillas obviously affected the Crown three in the first leg as they couldn’t hit a ton between them to start with and went one down. Crossbow was slowly getting to grip with his new darts and the tie was bought level when Saveloy hit tops. In the decider, a couple of tons from Sav, steady scoring by Crossbow and a 32 finish by Zorro gave the Crown the win.

8) Denmark , Hoady & Cyclops v Two John’s and a Dutchman: Won 2-1

Again a poor start by the Crown boys put them one down. Then a magnificent start by all three in the second leg left Hoady on a possible 15 dart finish. Unfortunately Hoady’s maths let him down when he managed to set up a D8 finish and with one dart left went and hit a big 2!! D7 almost let them down but Cyclops managed to take it out to level the tie. It was then back to usual business in the third as the Crown boys took another win on the night.

An excellent result against a potentially tricky team.

WON 7-1

ENGINEER A v CROWN SPORTS BAR

10 November 2011

An important clash against the current league champions and number one seeds was made slightly harder with the Welsh Wizard still AWOL and Zorro hobbling in with a massive sandal on.

SINGLES

1) Zorro v Darren Woolgar: Lost 1-2

First clash was the newly crowned summer league pairs champ ‘hop-along’ against the county star. The club foot support seemed to keep Zoz steady as he managed to take the tie into a decider with decent scoring and finishing on his old faithful D18. Unfortunately Darren’s scoring was sublime in places as he pipped Zoz for the first score.

2) Denmark v Vic Sexton: Won 2-1

Still on a high from retaining the summer league singles title last week, Denmark had an amazing start taking the first leg in 9 darts – 140, 140 and a 121 finish, Superb! Pity this form completely deserted him in the second as Vic levelled. However, Mr reliable managed to take the third leg for yet another victory.

3) Saveloy v Andy Sexton: Won 2-0

Also still buzzing after taking the summer league pairs title last week, Saveloy managed to pull out some decent darts and quick finishing to cause an upset against the in-form Stiffy and give the Crown the lead.

4) Crossbow v Lee Overton: Lost 0-2

Phil ‘Crossbow’ Merchent is still searching for form with his new teammates. Unfortunately he came up against Loverton on a good day and was unable to find his rhythm as his opponent took both legs.

5) Marcho v Ammo: Lost 0-2

Hoady named this battle ‘Dr Evil v Mini Me’ due to the remarkable resemblance of the two players! and with Zorro in the back ground shouting ‘get in my belly’ to the ribs the pub was turning into a bit of an Austin Powers tribute. In the first leg, Marcho yet again showed he can keep up with the top players with scoring power, but he wasn’t allowed enough darts at a finish as Ammo nicked the first. Ammo then upped another gear to take the second as well.

6) Cyclops v Terry: Won 2-0

With Terry’s eyesight also declining, this tie was the blind leading the blind and we all felt sorry for the chalker. However, they did hit the board and Cyclops managed to squeeze through to just take the first leg. Then he turned on the style in the second to easily take the tie. Pun-master Hoady then quipped ‘it was a blinding match’.

TREBLES

7) Zorro, Hoady & Marcho v Ammo, Woolgar & Damage: Lost 0-2

With the scores level the Crown boys gave their highly skilled opponents a run for their money. In the second leg Hoady hit a sensational 3 to set up Marcho beautifully for a 170, but the trebles eluded him. The Crown fell just short in this one to give the top seeds a one point lead with one to play.

8) Cyclops, Saveloy & Denmark v A. Sexton, Terry & Lee Overton: Won 2-1

Captain Marcho fielded the winning Crown players in this one to try and secure a draw. It looked to be going to plan in the first leg with decent scoring and a quick finish from Cyclops putting them one up. All changed in the next two legs though as the Crown lads couldn’t find the trebles. In the decider, the Engineer scored well to leave a two dart finish and looked in control. Fortunately, Saveloy got his game together at the right time to step up and check out 113 to take the leg and a rapturous cheer from his teammates.

A great result for the Crown away from home.

DRAW 4-4

ENGINEER C V CROWN SPORTS BAR
27 October 2011

With Chris “Slasher” Harris leaving during the transfer window and Gary Smart on his holidays, the Smarty Darting Dynasty were slightly weakened this week, however they still had little Pete, two Gays and Mr Walton.

SINGLES

1) Zorro v Ray Gay: Lost 0-2
Zorro looking smart with his Jesus creepers footwear didn’t have a prayer in this one as Ray couldn’t miss the T20. Zorro did manage a 140 & 63 finish to level in the 2nd leg, however Ray took the tie with a 14 darter in the decider.

2) Denmark v Matt Walton: Won 2-1
An important tie between the Superleague teammates started badly for the Crown as Matty went 1-0 up. Denmark fought back with a 140 in the 2nd leg to level and then said ‘Night John Boy’ to Mr Walton in the 3rd with a 13 dart leg to square the match.

3) Big Phil v Dave Smart: Lost 2-0
The Thursday night debut for Big Phil didn’t go to plan. After scoring well with a 140 in the 1st and 137 in the 2nd, Phil developed a severe nervous twitch on his doubles to let Dave nick both legs.

4) Cyclops v P. Gay: Won 2-0
The only impressive thing Cyclops managed to hit in the 1st leg was his hand as he managed to stab a massive hole in his finger. He took the first leg though and then with blood pouring, Terry Butcher style, he battled on with a 14 darter in the second to again square the match.

5) Saveloy v Little Pete: Won 2-1
A shocking start by Sav allowed little Pete to grab the 1st leg and almost the 2nd. Sav slowed up his game to just about level and then steady throws in the decider gave him the win.

6) Marcho v Bimbo Smart: Lost 1-2
Excellent scoring by Tee total Marcho gave him a nice lead in the 1st, however ‘Nervous Nick’ then lost the plot on the doubles to go 1-0 down. Calmer throwing by Marcho in the 2nd leg bought the tie level. Then with nothing between the two men in the decider, Marcho managed to bust 79 and it was all downhill from there as Bimbo levelled the match again, unlucky Beaker!

TREBLES

7) Denmark , Hoady & Cyclops v R. Gay, P. Gay & M. Walton: Won 2-1
Poor scoring from the Crown boys in the 1st was not punished as Gaz stepped up and hit 3-T20-D16 to checkout 95. Cyclops, now donning plasters after his earlier damage, was on fire hitting a 180, however it wasn’t enough as the opponents took the 2nd soon after. It was equal scoring in the decider and with the Engineer sitting on a double, Cyclops stepped up to complete his heroics with a 72 finish to put the Crown 4-3 up.

8) Saveloy, Big Phil & Zorro v D. Smart, Little Pete & Bimbo: Won 2-1
A lack luster 1st leg by all apart from Zorro who scored and finished well for a Crown lead. Unfortunately, Big Phil was miss firing on his debut and the Engineer took advantage to take the 2nd leg. It was tight scoring yet again in the 3rd leg. Sav stepped up with 150 left, hit 2 treble 20’s to set it up then when going for D15 managed to hit a 10! Zoz and big Phil missed the doubles, but Sav returned to the oche to take out 20 on D5 for the win.

An extremely tight and well contested match, but improvement required from the Crown if they want to contest the title.

THE CROWN WIN 5–3

CROWN SPORTS BAR VERSUS ENGINEER C

Well when the opposition turned up a comment was made that they had a very strong side, even though BIM was not with them as he was having an op on his shoulder, so we wish him all the best.

SINGLES

M AYRES V R GAY won 2-0

Well Ray started very well with throws of 81, 81,100 and eventually left himself 100 which he managed to bust. With this let off Mark ambled down at an uninspiring pace and left himself 85 with which he finished 15, 20 and bull unbelievable! Well that put him one nil up.2nd leg Mark woke up and after hitting a 140 , which put him in control and left him tops, even though Ray replied with 118 to leave 120,Mark slammed in the lamb and won convincingly, now that hurt to say.

S LICENCE V M WALTON WON 2-0

On paper this was a tough one for Steve as Matt has been playing well. Steve won the 1st leg with a double 8 after throwing 2 tons to go one up. Steve carried on this form in the 2nd leg and with92 left did it in two darts for an excellent win to put the Crown 2-0 up.

S MORRIS V A GAY WON 2-1

First leg Andy went well ahead with scores of 95,100,100, and looked certain to take it, but a well timed 180 left him 67 ,which took 6 darts to finish to give Simon a first leg lead.2nd leg was nip and tuck and with Simon missing a 60 finish, Andy went out on 10’s. The final leg looked good for Simon as he hit a 180, hang on a dart fell out so it was only a 120, and after some miss doubles by both players, Simon went out on double 5 for a 2-1 win . Good man.

P INNES V J KENNEDY WON 2-0

Probably Zorro’s best game of the season as he hit numerous tons and for him worked out his finishes very quickly to win comfortably.

G EDGAR V G SMART WON 2-0

Starting with 3 tons Gary won the first leg in 13 darts. Second leg was just as convincing with victory in 18 darts to win 2-0

N MARCHANT V P GAY WON 2-1

Well Nick started with 125, 121, and 85 and went out with a 13 dart finish which was quite remarkable for him. Still back to normal in second leg to which he lost on a double 3.Third leg Nick show a bit more consistency and finished on 56 with an 8, 16 and double 16 to win 2-1

TREBLES

S MORRIS, JC AND N MARCHANT WON 2-0

With JC hitting a double top and Si finishing the next leg victory was had.

S LICENCE, M AYRES AND P INNES LOST 2-0

Well the usual happened with Mark as he could not hit a barn door let alone a score over 30 ( sorry he hit the treble 20 once) not a lot more can be said.

So victory overall was 7-1 against a good side

CROWN SPORTS BAR V BRIDGE B

We welcome the Bridge to the Crown with a hope we would do better than the last game where we lost 7-1

JC LOST 2-0

A couple of good scores but his opponent Simon proved too strong

M AYRES 2-0

Mark played his best game so far and with 3 tons on the trot you would have thought he had a chance but Adam with a 180 left Mark dead .2nd leg went the same, on any other day Mark would have grabbed the spoils, but Adam was on his game.

S LICENCE WON 2-1

Steve was not on his game tonight, with only one score over a ton, which is not normal. His opponent was having a lot of trouble finishing which let Steve in to win with 2 23 dart games.

P INNES LOST 2-1

After going 1-0 up Phil lost the 2nd leg in 18 darts. In the deciding 3rd leg Phil was very unlucky as he had played better than normal, the old Phil is on the way back, but managed to lose.

N MARCHANT LOST 2-1

Well the game the night had been waiting for as Nick’s opponent Sid Perkins had lost to Nick last week and was very much up for revenge. Well the first leg went to plan for Sid as he won with relative ease by finishing quickly. Different story in the 2nd leg as Nick started with a ton and stayed consistent all the way through, but got behind leaving himself with a ton finish, while Sid was well close on a lower double. First dart hits a 5, then the fireworks treble 19 and followed swiftly by the double 19 GAME ON. The third leg was nip and tuck with Nick setting himself up for a double top, but alas it was not to be, Sid went out on double 19 to gain revenge.

G EDGAR LOST 2-1

Gary was playing the young Joe Davies who I think will be seen on TV very soon. With both players not really hitting top form Joe got the better and won this game.

TREBLES

G EDGAR JC AND M AYRES LOST 2-1

Well Gary felt he was a little stitched up here as JC was looking slightly worse for wear and Mark doing his usual I need to go as there am no I in team. At 1-0 down Gary single handed won the 2nd leg with a comment of are you two going to try. Well Mark woke up in the 3rd with a 135 but it was too late.

S LICENCE N MARCHANT P INNES LOST 2-0

With Nick only throwing the scores we were thoroughly stuffed.

Match result Lost 1-7

TREBLES COMPETITION HELD AT THE BRIDGE NEWHAVEN

With the big guns either working or getting brownie points, or in Marks case just getting pissed, only two teams entered from The Crown.

CROWN A

NICK MARCHANT PHIL INNES AND STEVE LICENCE

CROWN B

RICHARD MELVILLE MARTIN NICHOLAS AND JC

Crown B went on first in a preliminary round against the Ladies from The Coaster and won convincingly 3-0.They then had to play The Smart Clan and unfortunately were beaten 3-0 in the first round.

Crown A played against The Bridge B and won 3-0 convincingly with even Nick winning his singles against a lady. Next round they played a men’s team from The Coaster which they won 3-1 with Nick losing his singles through bad finishing again. This meant that Phil and Steve had to win the doubles; this then put the team into the semi finals.

Well the opposition were the Bridge A made up of Sid Perkins, Joe Davies and Adam Hart, so it was not going to be easy. Steve went on and lost to Adam, and then Phil went on and lost to Joe. So things were not looking good then out of nowhere Nick beat Sid, unbelievable. Unfortunately it was not to be as we got done in the doubles even though we had our chances, and got beat 3-1.

A good night was had by all and thanks Mary for a good spread.

PEACEHAVEN BULLS V CROWN SPORTS BAR

Well here we are at the Sussex Coaster against a team who are our top of the table rivals in the Monday Night League, but are lower than they should be in the Thursday Night League. After beating them at home this is how the return leg went.

SINGLES (CROWN PLAYERS FIRST)

M AYRES V P GRAY LOST 2-1

A tough opening game for Mark as Phil when on his game is a difficult opponent to beat. Well Sophia Mark played very well but it was not to be. After winning the first leg he managed to lose the 2nd to a double one. Then it was up for bull to see who started the final leg,omg Mark only just got it on the board just inside the treble circle, well he lost that and the game. It seems Mark’s lack of beer over Christmas has weakened him, or he is as useless as we think (Welsh twat).

S LICENCE V D HEALY LOST 2-0

Another tough game for Steve who was definitely up for it, in a high scoring game it was Des who gained the upper hand in the finishing.

S MORRIS V B NEVE WON 2-1

After a scrappy first two legs with either player setting the world alight it went to the wire. With Si winning the bull, he then went 98, 100, 171, leaving 32after 9 darts in which he finished with two double eights and left Ben probably quite bewildered.

P INNES V S HOPE LOST 2-0

Zorro did not get a look in with the inform Stuart and lost two straight.

G EDGAR V R ALLISON 2-0

Gary was awesome as usual but I think his opposition had lost before he started.

M NICHOLAS LOST 2-0

Sniper did not hit top form tonight, actually looked like he was wearing Mr Magoo glasses even though he was not.

So now being down 4-2 after the singles it was all down to the trebles.

TREBLES

G EDGAR, M NICHOLAS AND S LICENCE WON 2-0

S MORRIS N MARCHANT AND P INNIS LOST 2-0

So a fair result in the end with the Bulls winning 5-3.

WHITE LION V CROWN SPORTS BAR

Well what a game to start the New Year against local opponents The White Lion, this is how it went.

M AYRES WON 2-0

Start the New Year with a win, well Sophie Mark excelled today did not even go a leg down as normal. BUT!!!!!!! With bull left he hit a 25 so that it left him 25 for the next throw, well that what we all thought, we were wrong, as Mark proceeded in trying to hit double top with the next three darts until told that was his opponents score,Twat comes to mind or in his case Welsh Twat. Still the team went 1-0 up.

S MORRIS WON 2-1

After winning the first leg with 14 darts, Simon then lost his way a little and lost the second leg. But showed his class in the final leg with 15 darter including a 180 with the first three darts.2-0

G EDGAR WON 2-0

No messing from the big man tonight with an 11 dart and 15 dart legs to win comfortably, first leg included a 180 the second one on the night. 3-0

R MELVILLE LOST 2-0

Managed to bust 88 and go 1-0 down, and with 18 darts thrown at the double in the 2nd leg lost it to make the score 3-1.

N MARCHANT LOST 2-1

The game between the landlords started well for Nick but bad finishing let him down badly. Nick fought back in the 2nd leg with a double three, but was hopeless in the final leg to lose it. Score now 3-2.

P INNES LOST 2-1

Battle of the flat mates, with Zorro promising a win but alas could not finish to an on form Kevin. Now level at 3-3

TREBLES

S MORRIS M AYRES P INNES WON 2-1

Superb effort here to make the score 4-3 to The Crown

G EDGAR, JC, N MARCHANT

Having got back to 1 leg all with a fine finish of 48 by Nick, Gary threw a 180 to get us off to a good start in the final leg, but give the Lion there due they stubbornly held on for victory.

RESULT 4-4

Great value on a thoroughly enjoyable night.

CROWN V CINQUE PORTS SUPERNOVA

Well things got off to a bad start when the away team were short of one player, so to make a game of it The Crown lent them a player so that all the games could be played.

S.LICENCE V THE JUDGE 2-0

Judgie being one of their better players this could have been a difficult start for Steve. But with a 15 dart first leg including a 108 finish, Steve blew him away even though he took his time in the second leg, became a 2-0 win with ease.

M.AYRES V THE ASH BOBBIN ROBINS 2-1

Well mark did his usual played like a tart first leg, and lost his. Managed to win the second leg somehow, and then somehow came good in the third leg to win 2-1.

S.MORRIS V THE SHERRIFF 2-1

Another closely fought game with Simon’s experience coming through in the end for a fine 2-1 victory.

P.INNES V THE DAZZLER 0-2

Phil did not seem to have his mind on the job and with very bad finishing managed to lose the only game of the night.

N.MARCHANT V A N OTHER 2-0

Won with ease but still was not happy ha ha ha.

J.C V THE GOMM 2-0

JC notched his first victory of the season with relative ease, good man.

With the big guns being held back due to the weakness of the opposition they all came out in the trebles to win both games comfortably.

RESULT 7-1

THE PINK HARTS V CROWN

Well having made the mistake of turning up at The White Hart, we then moved on to The Ship to play the Pink “yes pink” Harts.

SINGLES

JC LOST 2-1

JC playing his first singles match of the season was easily fooled by the thought he was playing against a young lady, and victory was in the bag. But that was soon put to bed when in the first leg with 80 left threw the following 5,25,and bull finish , get in there one nil. JC pulled the next leg back but lost the decider.

S LICENCE WON 2-1

After winning the first leg comfortably, his opponent banged in some scores to win the second. All down to the third leg with which Steve won even though it must have taken 3 thousand darts to hit the finish.

P INNES WON 2-1

Made to fight for it after Keith got a 76 finish to take it to a final leg decider.

R MELVILLE WON 2-1

A pretty average game that did not really inspire the crowd, even the people on the pool table getting in the way, could only stop the rhythm of this rubber.

GARY EDGAR WON 2-0

Won with ease, nice to see him hit his doubles quicker than usual on the board.

N MARCHANT LOST2-1

Well I don’t know what planet I was on tonight, but it was not the right one, with a highest score of 60 lost convincingly.

TREBLES

G EDGAR, JC, AND S LICENCE WON 2-0

P INNES, R MELVILLE AND N MARCHANT WON 2-1

OVERALL SCORE CROWN WINS 6-2 TO WHAT WAS AN ANOTHER GOOD GAME PLAYED IN THE RIGHT SPIRIT.

ENGINEER B V CROWN

Well here we are again at the best venue in the league, not for the darts but for the best dart food, Bob’s ribs are the best.

RESULT 2-6 another fine victory, this is how it went.

SINGLES

M Ayres Won 2-1

Mark seemed to regain his old form tonight, obviously getting use to the new glasses, unlike Phil Taylor, but that where the resemblance stops. After winning the first leg, Mark let it slip in the second leg leaving it at 1-1. But with a 17 dart third leg won with ease to get the Crown off to a good start.

S Licence Won 2-1

After going 1 leg down Steve regained his confidence, to win 2-1, even though there were no live 180’s a good win put the Crown 2-0 up

There was a short pause before the next game as the food arrived, with everyone panicking to get in before Phil “SCOOBY SNACK” Innes grabbed the spoils. Give him his due he actually left some on the table this time. With his best meal of the week so far, lying in a safe place Phil went on next.

P Innes won 2-0

Victory was never in doubt as the lack of stress and the fact that his food was getting cold , Phil won at a canter with a 12 dart second leg to put the Crown 3-0 up.

R Melville Won 2-1

This game started off with a very uninspiring first leg with which Richard won with both players having 21 darts at the double. Second leg was a different story as was the third, but in the second leg the Engineer player left himself with a bull finish which he got with ease, unlike his throw for bull, to see who went first in the decider, being way off. Richard got a little bit behind but produced a 102 finish to put the Crown 4-0 up superb.

G Edgar won 2-0

After winning the first leg at a snail’s pace, 2 darts thrown well the other with the wrong eye, Gary produced a 16 dart second leg to win and put the match out of reach at 5-0.

N Marchant Lost 0-2

Well after winning for the last two weeks it all went Pete Tong, although scoring in both legs heavily with a 135 and a 121 his finishing let him down badly, and so became the first loser of the night.

TREBLES

S Licence, J C, R Melville Lost 1-2

Well they steamed the first leg, but lost the second being left on 250, so it was all down to the third leg to which they lost. Rumour has it they lost so that Nick was not the only loser of the night. (Horse dung)

P Innes, G Edgar, and N Marchant Won 2-1

Well we won this match with Marcho being deadly on the finishing doubles, shame he did not have the same accuracy in his singles, but hey ho.

With a fine victory of 6-2 and Phil only leaving a few salad bits, a good night was had by all.

With Gary playing for SUSSEX this weekend, sponsored of course by The Crown Sports Bar, in Dorset we wish him and the team the best of luck.

CROWN V CINQUE PORTS OLD GITS

Victory was never going to be in doubt against a very poor team , but we still had to perform.

SINGLES

Mark Ayres Lost 2-0

Mark leads the team off to yet another bad start, does not seem to be with it lately.Came close to a 131 finish, but like the rest of his darts it was never going to happen. Bad start for the team.

Simon Morris Lost 2-0

Simon struggling to find his form at the moment, lets hope he regains it for next weeks singles final at the ship.

Steve Licence Lost 2-0

Could not finish in a tight game.

Phil Innes Lost 2-0

Poor darts for Phil even though he had already sorted out his food parcel. High scoring second leg but lacked the finish.

Nick Marchant Won 2-1

Well the Captain played himself this week and managed to get his first win in God knows how long, yes it is a long time ago. Scored quite consistently and finished well, deserved the victory.

Gary Edgar Won 2-0

Very consistant as usual, yet to lose this season.

Going into the Trebles 4-2 down it was going to be a struggle.

TREBLES

Gary Edgar, Steve Licence, and Simon Morris Won 2-1.

With the big guns in this trio not firing very well, and the upset of noise from the crowd,it was down to Steve to get the finishes in,to put the match down to the final rubber.

M Ayres, Nick Marchant and Phil Innes.

Well as we needed to win this game it all went Pete Tong. While Nick and Phil played well with some good scores they were let down badly by the Welsh Wizard(more like a Welsh leak), who showed the team his true colours again by having to much to drink, and even with new glasses, try to prove there is an I in team. So we lost, hey ho Cinque Ports next week.

SINGLES

Mark Ayres won 2-1

Mark Ayres went on first and seemed more awake this time, which was rather strange as he had been on it all day. Mark won first leg, made a change, and then got battered in the second leg losing to an 80 finish. Mark redeemed himself with a good third leg to win the rubber 2-1.

Simon Morris won 2-1

Assured performances from Si, giving The Crown a 2-0 lead

Steve Licence lost 0-2

Steve still showing he has a lot of potential, even though he gets slightly nervous. Had to play their best player though held his own, but could not grab the upper hand.

Phil Innes won 2-1

Now started to regain form with a good win tonight.

Martin Nicholas won 2-1

New team member this season, started off well, but after a 180 was thrown against him in the second leg, started to wobble. Got back to form in the third leg to win this rubber.

Gary Edgar won 2-0

Sussex player sponsored by The Crown showed his county form tonight, by absolutely battering his opponent, who played ok but could not keep up with the high scoring of Gazza.

TREBLES

Gary Edgar, Nick Marchant and Simon Morris Lost 2-1

Having put myself in a team of big hitters, so that I may win a game. Not to be as the quality players played poorly and we could not finish.

Steve Licence, JC and Phil the snake Innes Won 2-0

Comfortable win for the boys in this one
