NEWHAVEN AND DISTRICT DART LEAGUE DOUBLES COMPETITION
With only two pairs entering from The Crown, this is how they got on.
Richard Melville and Steve Anderson played probably the favourites in the first round, and unfortunately lost to a far superior team who did not miss a thing, which was a bit disappointing as this pair hit nothing in the next round and lost themselves.
Steve Licence and Nick Marchant had a bye to the second round which they won comfortably with Nick hitting a 116 finish and in the first leg Steve finishing with a double 2 after leaving his partner with 25 after going for a bull finish when 200 ahead. This put us into the semi final which was lost to the eventual winners, but was a top match. After losing the first leg, Steve managed to get a 180 and with Nick finishing well we made it 1-1.In the third leg we hit form going well ahead with some big scoring leaving us on 171 while they were still on 350, then they threw a180 which changed the whole game and they went through.
CROWN SPORTS BAR V CONCORDE BELLS

Could not seem to hit form tonight; even with a 2nd leg finish of 77, bull finish, so the Crown off to a bad start.

R Melville Lost 0-2
An off night for Richard tonight.

N Marchant Won 2-1
Having gone well clear in the 1st leg, I managed to lose it. Same story in the 2nd leg but then was allowed to have 300 darts at double one managed to win lot better in the 3rd leg and got the winning double a lot quicker, to put the team 3-2 up.

BELLS CLUB OUTLAWS V CROWN
WON 5-3
Second game of the season was away again at the Bells Club, but the opposition was The Bells Outlaws. This is how it went.
Richard Melville Lost 2-0
Richie went on first as captain to lead from the front. Unfortunately did not quite turn out like that as he was always struggling to keep up, against what proved to be one of their better players.
Steve Anderson Won 2-0
Our no.1 player got us back to winning ways, although did not show his previous form, he did enough for this victory.
Nick Marchant Lost 1-2
Nick had to play young Steve, and managed to win the first leg but it was close. Steve went away with the second leg as Nick could not score consistently. The third leg was nip” n” tuck as both players scored high regularly and it went to the wire with Steve showing the better finishing.
Martin Nicholas Won 2-1
Martin played well and with some help on his finishing got there in the end.
Steve Licence Won 2-0
Steve made hard work of this victory, still manages to run himself down when he is winning and playing well.

NEWHAVEN SUMMER LEAGUE
THE CROWN SPORTS BAR V RAILWAY CLUB
RESULT 6-2
SINGLES
Mark Ayres won 2-1 average 18.61
Well what can I say Sophie, Dad did his usual played rubbish first leg,got away with it second leg, and romped the third, can never work it out he is getting to predictable.Banged in 3 x 140 so a good start to a must win game.
S Morris won 2-0 average 19.26
Marriage has obviously worked as this man was on top form to win
S Licence lost 2-0 average 17.18
Doubles has not been seen in Saveloy’s singles play, but still steady, will do better in the winter leagues I have no doubt about that.
G Edgar won 2-0 average 17.63
A win is a win, but i feel that the Big Pompey Man was a little disappointed in his form tonight on his finishing, his usual ruthlessness was astray.Still with Simon has been one of our top players for the season.
P Innis won 2-1 average 19.01
Zorro fought off the demons to win this rubber and get back into winning ways after losing the first leg
DOUBLES
S Morris and S Licence won 2-0
Saveloy kept up his winning streak in the doubles, although not with Gary this week, has managed to win 7 out 7 a 100% record in this event well done. Could do with the finishing power in his singles.
TREBLES
N Marchant,G Edgar, and P Innis lost 0-2
Putting on myself the team did not stand a chance with the eratic darts thrown.
GALLON
Dropping the skipper in this must win leg,and replacing him M Ayres (now we know he cant play after 23 pints ha ha) a strong 5 was put out.Well after going ahead quite easily, christ knows how with Mark throwing scores of 5 and slightly better(useless welshman, who only got better when tom jones came on the juke box robbing him of a hard earned quid , tight wad) it went to the wire , withboth teams needing to win.Well the usual tight finish occurred withboth sides needing double one.Afterr 10 throws each at it Zorro slammed it in which was what was needed to win the gallon league with 8 wins.
A sucessful first season , witha finishing position of second,Gazza winning the House Champions, and the Gallon League also won ,not a bad start.I like to thank all the players who played and thank them for there effort and commitment towards the team. Also like to thank the sponsor Paddy Connolly for supplyingthe shirtsfor this season, and good luck to Gazza in the County Team this coming season.

A disappointing start for Mark who lost the first leg but redeemed himself by winning the next two.Even though using pub darts (poor excuse) was the only player to lose a leg

Simon Morris won 2-0 average 19.27
Another steady result from this steady player
