CROWN SPORTS BAR 0 WHITE HART II 4

Another unlucky result with only 10 men, thoughts are that we be better off in the 5 a side league.

CROWN SPORTS BAR 0 V WHITE HART 6

The score did not do the Crown justice as having a much depleted side at times showed some very good football in this cup match. With Alex getting man of the match for his hard work in midfield, just edging out Mike Worrall on his comeback game.

NEWS FLASH

Apparently Dan will not be leaving The Crown FC as was quoted in the match report from Sunday. This was either due to the fact he loves the hot dogs or he could not agree terms with his new club on how many hot dogs he could have. I myself feel that it’s because he can play on the pitch some games and bang in goals from 48 yards, as well as being a very safe pair of hands in goal.

With this being Dan’s last game in the Crown colours, pending a medical at the Cinque Ports, and I thought the transfer window was closed, he would like to gone out with a bang. Well the first half could not have been drabber as all the opposition seem to want to do was late tackle and have a crunch, especially the number 6 who seemed like he was still pissed from the night before, well it ended 0-0.

Second half was more entertaining just slightly with a few comical errors occurring, which lead to the first goal. With Dan calling keepers ball it was duly left for him to boot clear, but alas the local worm popped up for his morning wriggle and knocked the ball passed him for the centre forward to lash it home from 90 cm. 1-0.Well the Crown started to fight back and very quickly made it 1-1 with Dom beating four men and sliding it passed the bright traffic cone in goal, the Chelsea goalkeeping kit did not look to good on his wonderful physique. Hill then took another bad knock on his already knackered ankle and was substituted for Jan who could not do much as his hamstring was gone , but he made an effort as no other person was available due to England call ups or they could not be arsed.LOL.The opposition then went 2-1 up, but straight from the kick off Dom was there again to lob the goalkeeper 2-2.After a few clashes in the middle of the park and THE MACE looking like a man possessed, they broke free and with Luke trying to wrap himself around there player like a blanket gave a penalty away which was probably the only decision the ref gave that was right all day. Yes you got it they scored. 3-2.wWell that how it stayed and another loss was recorded and with his two goals Dom was given man of the match just sniffing out Jack Mason.CUP NEXT WEEK

After a very good team performance last week the form was still there and The Crown went into a 2-0 half time lead with  Jim The Hitman McDonnell bagging them both. Also with Luke looking very solid at the back it looked like we had it in the bag.Well second half it all went wrong . Von Ryan picked up shin splints and could hardly run and Viggers up front pulled a muscle and was unable to hold on to the ball as an outlet. With these injuries we were put under the cosh and eventually the pressure told, and The Welly pulled it back to 2-2. Man of the match was a close thing with Jim just edging it from Luke

Well here we are at the Old Town Rec Eastbourne for a Cup Tie against South Downs, on a cold damp day. First half kicks off and it is obvious that The Crown is the better side with some superb one touch football all round, with only the final ball letting us down. Then it went slightly Pete Tong, with Luke to have judged as pushing when clearly going for the header with his arms down, a disgrace, penalty given , oh dear 1-0 down. More chances started to come as the intricate passing was starting to tell, oh yes good cross by Viggers and The Hit Man Jim was there to slam in the lamb 1-1.We were now all over them show class with every move, hang on the opposition had shot from 45 yards and with the wind beats Dan with a very unexpected shot from nowhere oh dear 2-1. Half time comes and I cannot believe we are losing such a one sided game.

The second half gets underway, and The Crown now have the wind behind them, and yet again are so dominant with everything they do. After several corners that came to no avail on the left we got one on the right to which Jan floats one in and it is helped strongly by the wind, yes get in there we are on a roll 2-2.After more pressure and time running out there centre half goes straight through Jim, who is left sprawling, it’s got to be, yes payback time, and Dom slams home the penalty easily after a bit of gamesmanship from the opposition, 3-2.Lovely jubbly into the draw we go.

The whole team was named men of the match for there all round ability. See you next week for the local derby v The Wellington.

Team news

E Sparks and D Viggers

Well being put on the top pitch at Old Town Rec, the one with a massive slope and twenty foot higher in the top corner and everyone looking fit and healthy the game got under way.

After the first five minutes it was evident that the fitness levels were low and in some cases hangovers were evident, but the other side looked worse. Crown wins the first corner after some good work from the Coventry New Boy Dan, Ryan takes it is cleared. Few good moves between Jim and Viggers enabled a shot but to no avail. Lot of time has been wasted as the ball went out of play and ended up in the Town centre rather than close at hand. Ball goes out yet again, but the Ref gets confused with the other pitches corner flag and gives a goal kick when it was clearly a throw by about twenty yards. Well with a stick insect in goal and a load of unfit fat boys on the pitch you would have thought that victory should be in the bag, hang on a slip at the back and they manage to hit the post, a mild bit of panic there. A bit more pressure from The Scottish section and Dan makes a fine save. Great work from Eddie and Viggers gets us a corner Ryan swings it across and after a bit of Bagatelle in the six yard box Jim the Hit Man lashes it home 1-0.

Crown get possession very quickly from the kick off, a pinpoint pass is made through their defence, Viggers is on to it in a flash, no sorry it was the momentum of the hill making him look quick, Viggers beats one and shoots 2-0 get in there. Viggers with the help of Jim are now starting to dominate, Viggers is through again OMG what a mess he completely fluffed his lines on that one, and immediately asks to be subbed .Ryan slots the ball into Viggers and with Jim screaming for the ball on the right, he turns on a bus depot and chips the keeper 3-0.Great goal good job he scored as I think Jim might have said something ha.

Penalty no yes no yes no not given, last time I saw a tackle like that it was at Twickenham, the ref should have gone to Spec Savers. Jim nutmegs a Bloke, good cross to Viggers great save.

With some good defensive work from the team especially Spraggy who looked in pain with every header, the midfield making things tick with Von Ryan and Alex, and the dominance of Viggers and Jim up front things were looking good as the half comes to a halt at 3-0.

The second half started well for Afton with the Crown looking vulnerable at the back, WAKE UP was the call, OMG BALL GOES TO THE OTHER END, and mishit by Viggers 4-0 how lucky was that.

Well at 4-0 up The Crown started to relax if fact to relaxed ,Afton score with a fine volley4-1.Still I don’t think it made much difference as Dom breaks down the right and with Viggers unmarked in the six yard box laying flat out Dom crosses and Viggers heads in from a centimetre off the ground ,now he is taking the Mickey, 5-1.Well although the score reflecting an interesting game it was actually quite dull in-between the goals , Jim shoots 6-1,gives him a brace, this is now a formality as Afton are now arguing at each other in Scottish and Polish so how they understood each other I don’t know.

Dom breaks down the right he gets clean through, he is fouled and the ref gives a penalty. Now after a debate of who was going to take it with even the goalkeeper Dan putting his case forward, Dom slotted it home 7-1.

With fitness levels very low I am sure that training this week will be well attended.

CROWN SPORTS BAR 4 V EASTBOURNE ANGLING 3

@ STANLEY TURNER 10.30 AM

Team news is that Richard Marriott is out with man flu (tart); Jonathon, Micheal out injured, and with others working this was the team.

Aaron Smith

Dan McDonnell, Jack Mason, Luke Greenwood, Andy Pulford,

Dominic Loosemore, Ryan Hodkinson, Micheal Spragg, Jan Kobylak,

Jimmy McDonnell and Eddie Sparks.

Sub Sam Hart

Dan was a new addition on the pitch, and at times was very vulnerable at Right Back. Even though we scored a victory today the score line should have been wider.

The goals scored today were all of great quality. Jan got the first, with our first attack, after being under the cosh for 13mins; Jan broke free down the left hand side, and after totally bamboozling the full back thumped in a ferocious shot of Gareth Bale quality to make it one nil at the far post. Having tried to stay on Jan could not go on, due to hamstring trouble and was replaced by the big fella Sam.Jimmy got the second with his shear persistance of nagging away at there defence.

With the half time score at only 2-0 and a few players running around like drunks in an earthquake the score should have been better. Something must of upset the Big Fella as after a couple of hard tackles he picked the ball up on the edge of the box, turned on a sixpence and chipped the keeper with great skill to make it 3-0.I always found it quite odd that every time we score the other team seem to walk straight through from the kickoff and almost score. The fourth goal was of Beckham quality,  from his Selhurst Park game, Dan picked the ball up in his own half and decides to shoot as the goalkeeper is off his line, and sure enough in it goes from all of 60 yards 4-1, sign him on for Scotland.Again the defence showed there vulnerability at the back with some lacklustre marking,  and with no one dominating in the air at set pieces and leaving the goalkeeper ill at ease the other side scored twice to make it 4-3 leaving a bit of panic for the last 5 minutes of the game.

Von Ryan was given Man of the Match for his consistancy in midfield, and his cool approach to control the game where others let themselves down by inconsistency and lack of discipline getting booked, even though the Ref was bad.

Although the Referee had a reasonable first half by keeping the game flowing, his second half was atrocious, and he was very busy with his book. I don’t think he has much of a life as he probably spent all day Sunday trying to think why he had booked people, so that he could write up his reports.

Still no game next week, so I get a lay in, happy days

SUNDAY 23 RD OCTOBER

WINSOR RED SOX 0 V THE CROWN SPORTS BAR 0

@ HAMPDEN PARK EASTBOURNE 10.30 KO

SUNDAY 17TH OCTOBER

Well here we are again at Hampden Park Eastbourne, to play The Winsor Red Sox, in what could be an entertaining game after the 5-5 draw a few weeks ago.

Team news is that J Hill is injured Jack Mason returns, and Joel was to pissed to be arsed. With Dom suspended the line up was

Dan McDonnell

Richard Marriott, Luke Greenwood, Jack Mason, Andy Pulford

Eddie Sparks, Ryan Hodkinson,Micheal Spragg,Jan Kobylak

Micheal Worrell and Jim McDonnell

Sub Sam Hart.

Ref gets us underway, although he looks more like the Slap head off Benny Hill; his lack of movement is evident.

Corner to Sox, comes over, a big call of clear is made, but alas everyone stood still and the ball goes wide for a Goal kick.

Sox get a throw and sure enough Delap takes it, great header that hammers the bar, which was close, the defence are starting to head a ball like Peter Crouch, in other words getting nowhere near it.

Sox get another corner which Dan catches easily.

Crown attack and a perfect ball are put through to Jan who just cannot get there, keeper clears.

Another throw to Sox, Delap takes, goes like a missile into the box, good man Dan collects it .Ball is cleared and after some good work in midfield by Von Ryan, the ball goes to Jimmy, who puts it through to Jan, who is brilliantly tackled by the No 5,hard but very fair.

The Sox attack again but the ball is cleared to Eddie, he’s off as he gooses his way down the right, crosses it, but to no avail as the rest of the team had not caught up with his lightning pace.

After quite a few minutes of bish bashing about in midfield we get another corner.Von takes it short, oh dear we get a throw in.The ball manages to get to The Woz who attacks down the left, and with some silky skills does the fullback with ease, but alas runs out of room, goalkick, its obvious that The Woz is different gravy.

Good ball by Jim to Spraggy, oh my God what a crap pass to Eddie who has no chance, Sox get the ball, Spraggy needs to slow down a bit as he seems to be running all over the place like a headless chicken.

By this time the Ref has had a bad start as he has missed things and given wrong decisions to both sides, causing a few words of aggression, I think he should have gone to spec savers.

Yes we have it, a free kick has gone our way at last, Ref seems to have woken up, Sox clear, as Delap turns AP with ease, and he chases back, great tackle and gives away a corner.

Crown attack again and get a corner Jan takes but comes to nothing again, needs someone a bit more positive in the box to attack the ball.

Delap throws it in again, Dan alert as usual collects well done.

Bad tackle by Sox, on the edge of the area, taken by Von Ryan, alas straight into the wall and cleared.

Deano shoots for Sox, how bad was that?

Another cross by Jimmy comes to nothing.

Jimmy again picks up the ball and goes on one of his runs, gets into the box, how late was that tackle must be a penalty, not the Ref says play on. What a twat.Jimmy through again, gets a corner.

Ball goes free, Spraggy picks it up, shoots over the bar, and well it would have been if the goal was anywhere nearby.

Corner to Sox, balled cleared to Eddie who goes on a run like a weaving sidewinder but comes to nought.

Corner again to Sox ball goes clear to AP who gets it out to Von Ryan, who crosses it with precision to Jimmy on the volley. Unlucky!!!!!!

Crown don’t seem to be able to keep their foot on the ball with only Von Ryan managing to slow it down in the centre of midfield and Jimmy making his usual penetrating runs, the Sox on the other hand only look dangerous on the break, with their Delap like throws always looking a danger, but fortunately Dan is ever alert in The Crown goal. The first half comes to an end, with not much more to say to a goalless half.

The half time talk was had but no liquid refreshment as J Hill was not there with the water bottles, or someone did not think to go and get them from him.

Second half gets underway; Jimmy shoots as the Crown get off to a better start.

Free kick taken by Von Ryan, bangs it over to the far post, Jimmy just cannot get the vital touch, unlucky, goalkick.

Ball is bouncing off all the  over the place and goes to The Woz who cracks it goal wards, yes it’s there, no great defending as the defender manages to get a foot to it corner.

Throw in, balls falls to Jimmy great turn, sets up the volley, just wide.

Woz loses the ball, chases it back, good man gets it back, with some help from Von Ryan and Spraggy get the ball to Jimmy who slots in Eddie, he shoots good save.

Shout for a free kick to Crown as three Sox players sandwich our player. Nathan runs away moaning to which Marcho shouts “it was like a subway sandwich it had to be a free kick” he replied “you look like you ate all the subway sandwiches”.  Nothing like a bit of banter to which Marcho replied “pies son pies I ate all the pies get it right.”

Then the nightmare happened, ball went into the air with Woz and Nathan both going for it, Woz got there first and was hit full whack accidentally in the face by the defender no malice intended. Woz went down, did not look good, as a lump appeared on his face. Woz was taken straight to hospital by Marcho; to find out he had fractured his cheekbone, not good news.

More chances were had by either team, but to no return, as the game seems to die out to the inevitable draw.AP completely takes out there forward, ref blind as a bat gives nothing again how lucky was that.

Final whistle goes 0-0, deserved better

CHALLENGE CUP

EASTERN PROMISE FC 0 V THE CROWN SPORTS BAR FC 2

@ LIMES CROSS HERSTMONCEUX 10.30 KO.

Today’s game is the first round of the challenge cup, against Eastern Promise. Team news is that we seem to have a good selection this week to choose from.

Aaron Smith

Richard Marriott, Jonathon Hill, Luke Greenwood, Andy Pulford

Dominic Loosemore, Ryan Hodkinson, Alex Mikolay, Jan Kobylak

Michael Worrall and Jimmy McDonnell

Subs Eddie Sparks, Joel Pout, and Michael Spragg

Weather today is rather cold, and the supporters are feeling it. Anyway it’s over to our match commentators Ruth and Carmen.

10.30 Kick Off and The Crown get off to a good pressing start putting The Promise under early pressure,AP breaks through , but unfortunately has the “touch of a leper” and it comes to nothing. Promise break, there he is again, great defending by AP.

10.33 Eddie waves his flag majestically, as Promise score, signalling offside, and free kick to Crown. Other team now becoming frustrated as Crown tries to play the ball around the park, (nothing like the way Arsenal does it).

10.35 Good block by Jan, with The Promise looking very threatening on the break.

10.39 Heroic defending by Luke, stopping a one on one with Aaron

10.42 Ball jumps up at Luke, Ball to hand surely, no ref gives a freekick, and good save by Aaron.

10.44 Ref stops play again and have told Jan to pull his socks up.

10.45 Jan breaks down the right wing to pick up the pass fromVon Ryan, cuts in on goal, shoots and slots it in beautifully 0-1.Pulling his socks up seems to have worked, well done Ref.

10.52 As you can see now the minutes are getting further apart in this game due to the cold. Promise get a corner comes to nothing.

10.54 Jan gets barged from behind, seems like there Geography Teacher is on one, and starts to look all mean and stroppy, and in comes the Woz as this teacher won’t leave Jan alone. Geography pushes his chest out like a golfing puff adder, and after a stern word from the Ref runs back into defence, via Jan who stands his ground, school boy stuff really. Woz has a moment to reflect with the Ref on this matter.

10.56 Promise (EP) get a free kick which is sent over the bar rather spoon style.

10.57 EP gets another corner, which is put over the bar from a free header, no marking there then.

10.58 Marcho SHOUTS at Dom to wake up as he seems to be on another planet today.

11.01 Devastation off the pitch as J Hill goes down after a heavy collision, Dr Eddie rushes on with the emergency deep heat. J Hill is convinced he heard a crack and is carried off to be nursed by Ruth.

11.05 Spraggy goes on as sub

11.07 EP attack again and Aaron makes a comfortable save.

11.08 Crown on the break, with some good inter play, breaks down as EP give away another freekick.Jan takes it, floats one in, cleared well by EP.

11.09 The Hit Man has attempt on goal, but it is saved by the EP goalie.

11.10 EP attack and get a free kick, which is cleared to The Hit Man, HM goes on a dribble and slots it into Jan, who cleverly secures a corner.

11.14 Corner is cleared, and the returned ball in was to slow as Jim is caught offside, hats it the whistle goes for the end of the half, with The Crown ahead but EP still looking a threat.

SOOOOOOOOOOOO COOOOOOOOOOLD

11.22 Second half gets underway.

11.24 The Woz is fouled, Von Ryan floats it over, and the ball is headed over in the melee goal kick given.

11.27 Good sliding tackle by Spraggy, as the bulk of the other team now beginning to slow them down with tiredness.

11.29 Free kick leads to another good effort on goal by Jan, leading to another corner. Crown must start to put these chances away.

11.31 Von Ryan bangs over the corner, straight on to Hit Man’s head, just over.

11.33 Another goal bound attempt by The Hit Man, goes wide. At one nil EP are still in with a shout.

11.34 Great ball through to Woz, who under great pressure takes the ball into the opposing penalty area. Where did the defender come from, as he takes out Woz with no mercy? The crowd jump up, it has to be a penalty, No way, Play on, says the ref.

11.36 Hit Man goes on a run, he is through on goal shoots low and hard (just like a porn star) and despite a big lunge from the slim centre half scores, yes 0-2 get in.

11.38 Spraggy heads towards our goal, unbelievable ref gives a free kick against him.Ref must be on a free curry later.

11.39 Jan shoots across goal, but again it goes wide, as Jim throws himself into the back of the net after it.

11.40 Dom from the other planet, makes a good but rare run, gaining a corner of their slow player. Taken quickly by Jan. Rich takes a good swipe at it shoots goal wards, but EP clears it away.

It’s now getting to cold for comfort now, and the supporters are all feeling it, except Marcho who is wrapped up like a Walrus, looking warm every minute he paces up and down the line.

11.41Hit Man McDonnell makes another direct run on goal, he hits it but it goes narrowly wide and goes out for a goal kick off there defender. The Ref is clearly blind as he gives another wrong decision, must be defo for the Sunday curry buffet.

11.42 AP makes another great block, as the Promise make another attack on the Crown goal. The defence looking a lot more solid now that AP has moved into a central position.

11.42 Alex plays another great ball up to Dom, who has the touch of a non stick pan as it comes off their defender for a throw.

11.43 Von Ryan sends a great through ball to Hit Man, who zooms in on goal, Fat Boy is there to clear, it must be like going around the m25, or Marcho.

11.44 At last the Ref makes a good call, Rich then hoofs it up field from the resulting freekick.Jim goes for the header and is flattened, the other team help him up as he has just been hit by a bulldozer, sure enough Ref gives them the free kick as Jim was holding. Whatever, rumour has it that Blind Pugh is well, and going to make a come back.

11.45 The Planet known as Dom is replaced by Eddie. Straight away the ball is played down the right for him to chase. And sure enough Eddie gets to the ball like a rabbit on heat, what pace. The left back does not look to happy after having an easy game so far. Eddie plays it into the middle but to no avail as the rest of the team have not caught up with play.

11.53 They sub off Justin (aka smallcock) who is definitely not happy with this call.

11.54 Eddie again is off like a gazelle that he is and puts in another great cross.

11.55 He is then taken out by the Bulldozer, and stands up to arguably the biggest man on the pitch, not in the height way though. Heroic

11.58 Joel comes on for Jan, as The Crown now go for pace down both flanks.

12.00 Jim is taken out, and then Woz puts in a great dive, nothing doing play on

12.01 Joel “it was f*!!**! g awesome “has a good attempt on goal.

12.02 Sun comes out but it’s too late we are frozen stiff

12.03 Their No 8 reckons “it’s only 2-0 we can do this”Yeah well good luck with that one matey.

12.04 Ball ricochet’s off No 11 with a resounding boom. All he’s done all game is barge his way through as though he was in a hurry to get out of MORRISSONS quickly with a full trolley.

12.05 Final whistle goes we are in the hat for the next round

Thanks girls hope you get warm quickly.

SUNDAY 10TH OCTOBER WHITE HART II 5 V THE CROWN SPORTS BAR 2

THE CONVENT FIELD LEWES @10.30AM

What a day, glorious sunshine, a few supporters, no team sorry just got eleven. Helping out and running the line I will hand you over to this week’s commentators Carmen and Ruth, not quite your Saint and Greavsie, but a damn sight better looking. Team news is that we are short on numbers for the second week due to work commitments, and lunch engagements Eddie, hope it was nice food.

Aaron Smith

Richard Marriott, Jonathan Hill, Luke Greenwood, Joel Pout

Dominic Loosemore, Ryan Hodkinson, Jimmy McDonnell, Jan Kobylak

Michael Worrell and Sam Hart

SUB A.N.Other

Right over to you girls.

10.29 Kick off (good start) Sam makes an early break as The Crown start to put on early pressure.

10.34 The Hart II attack, but with some good defending and a save from Aaron, it comes to nothing.

10.36 Good ball in by Sam to The Woz, our first chance, no he did not quite make it 0-0

10.38 JK heads the ball onto The Woz, who unleashes a venomous shot, goalkeeper can only parry it, yes he was there, Jimmy The Hit Man McDonnell snaps it up and slots it home from all of 5 yards 0-1.

10.39 Sam is taken out by the number 3,but the free kick taken by Luke comes to nothing.

10.41 The Hart shoot, but alas they narrowly miss, but the signs are there, as the home team are getting more possession.

10.43 Yellow card given to an Alex Reid lookalike, for a foul on JK, reacted like a big kid.

10.47 Massive chance by The Hart, but heroically saved on the line by J Hill, as the keeper was well beaten.

10.51 Slow ball put through but was easily saved by Aaron.

10.59 Number 3 aka Alex Reid for Hart, messes up big time, by missing an open goal, PHEW that was lucky.

11.00 No. 3 does not mess up this time as he slots it in from 8 yards 1-1 .

11.03 One on one on Aaron, who manages to grab it.

11.07 N0.22 DIVES LIKE A GIRL, Ref ignores it as they play on, slotting the ball through to a player clearly offside, flag goes up, Ref unsighted, but does well as he consults with Marcho, and gives the free kick Goodman .No19 is a twat and carries on moaning.

11.11 Easy shot saved by Aaron, as the defence seem to be all at sixes and sevens, having trouble keeping the front runners from Hart at bay.

11.12 Joel makes a good throw to The Woz who shoots over the bar BOO!!!!!!

11.13 Hart shoot again, Aaron saves well.

11.15 No 22 (Robbie Savage lookalike)has a long shot on goal, what a strike ,scores 1-2:cry: A lack of concentration there as he was not closed down from a quickly taken free kick, way back in the middle of the park. Half time comes.

Quick drink then a chat, felt that the heads were starting to drop, but after a word from Von Ryan all was back on track, although Aaron made his point quite vocal as he walked away on to the pitch. Not a happy bunny……….

11.22 Kick off and The Hart go straight on the attack, No2 gets the ball, oh no he chips the keeper, 1-3.  Not the start we were looking for.

11.23 J Hill again stops another attack, offside given anyway by a hobbling linesman, who seems to have suffered a twisted knee and does not look comfortable.

11.25 No 3 acting the Wally again, trying to push his way through our defence, ref misses it, he then loses the ball from a tackle from J Hill.

11.26 Joel again clears the ball well, (showing a lot of potential this fledgling) Dom locks on to it and goes on a mazy run, but passes the ball to the other side. Numpty?

11.26 Good pressure is now being made by The Crown, and with a move of fast play the ball gets up to Sam , who is blatantly blocked off the ball by No 3 (Alex Reid)”its because he has long legs” pure jealousy.

11.30 End to end stuff. Hart cop out and spoon it across goal, as Aaron loses it, it is cleared straight up to Dom, but it races away from him to their keeper.

11.31 Ref blows, free kick to Hart for shirt pulling by The Hit Man Jimmy, straight into the hands of Aaron who sends it straight up the other end.

11.32 Luke gets done for pushing just outside the box; No 11 shoots but bangs it over the bar.

11.33 Ball is given away in midfield and Hart counter attack very quickly, Aaron comes out and is rounded quite easily, oh no, they score again 1-4:cry:

11.35 Heads are dropping, it’s not looking good.

11.35 The Hit Man is through on goal, keeper comes, Jimmy turns, his legs are taken, and yes it’s a penalty. Could this be the lifeline needed.JK steps up to take it.OH MY GOD what was that, keeper picks his nose ,does his shoe laces up, then still has time to stop the ball. Looked more like a back pass.

11.38 Von Ryan fouls Ben Cove ,advantage played for a minute , then the free kick is given .Ryan is booked-yellow card.

11.39 N021 offside again, gives the Marcho a whinge, then continues going on at the Ref.

11.40 Great block by J Hill, clears it to Jimmy who dribbles through wave after wave of awful tackles ,at last gets the free kick, surprised he can still walk. Nothing comes of it.

11.42 J Hill wins the ball again in a great superb tackle(wonder who wrote this bit Ruth), floors Mr blank shirt, who lies down as though he was in ER,until he realises that the Ref is not interested.

11.45 Aaron is in full flight to make a great save. What are they like, yet again they start moaning like” a bunch of fishwives”.

11.46 Fancy skills shown by The Woz ,closed down though and the ball go up the other end for J Hill to block again, now back to Carmen.

11.49 Tiredness now creeping in Hart continues to push forward chasing every loose ball.

11.50 Aaron is left in a central position one on one with attacker, who chips him,5-1 is just gets worse and worse.

11.52 Sam and The Woz bomb up the pitch, Woz crosses but do not manage to find Sam in the box . Chance lost.

11.53 Close call as Hart shoots and narrowly misses the top right corner.

11.55 Throw in from Joel and after a lot of Scrabble(scramble girls)the ball gets half cleared to The Hit Man whose first reaction is to shoot. GET IN goal from 18 yards. Come on let’s get it on 2-5. :-D

11.56 No19 takes another dangerous free kick which Aaron catches, to stop another goal going in.

11.57 Dom wins the ball, passes to Von Ryan who brings it down, slots in The Woz ,who shoots , close but no cigar.

11.59 Rich gets injured on comes the Sub who looks like shit, heavy night I feel.

12.03 No 3 gets floored ,might improve his looks a little.

12.04 Great shot by JK looks to be going wide, The Hit Man chases it in , but to no avail.

12.05 Luke bangs a free kick to the edge of their box, Jimmy controls but finds himself out numbered and they clear.

Whistle goes early 12.07

We lose 5-2 but I feel that if we were able to pick from the full squad we would have given them a run for the money, still cup next week. Thanks to Carmen and Ruth for their comments, and see more of you all next week.

SUNDAY OCTOBER 2ND

AFTON CELTIC 1 V THE CROWN SPORTS BAR 3

@HAMPDEN PARK 10.30 KO

Well what a day, starts off quite humid, then heavy drizzle. The referee from the outset, showed his intent, being very fussy with jewellery items of no relevance, making the players remove them. Anyway Team news is that a few players were missing due to work commitments, meaning that Dan Mcdonnell came back in goal and relying on young Joel Pout to be sub.

Dan Mcdonnell,

Richard Marriott, Jonathon Hill, Luke Greenwood,Andy Pulford

Domonic Loosemore,Ryan Hodkinson,James Mcdonnell,Jan Kobylak

Eddie Sparks and Micheal Warren

sub Joel Pout

With the Referee starting the game it became fairly obvious that he was not going to take any verbal from either team, even though he was letting a lot of infringements go, causing the home team much anxiety and stress.Looking as though our linesman was not happy with this, the Chairman took over.

After a lot of whistle blowing and a lot of needless freekicks, the flow of the game was very disruptive, but on 15 mins the breakthrough came with Jimmy The Hit Man Mcdonnell slotting home . Get in, much deserved after the way we were being man handled by the opposition. With the wind behind, and Dan having a long kick ,The Crown were continually putting Celtic under pressure. And yet another freekick, The Hit Man blasts over. The Crown now taking control of midfield,Dom slots it over,Oh no Jan puts it over, should have scored, just could not quite get over the ball.Dom puts in another great ball on 25 mins , another missed chance for Jan, looks like its not going to be his day today.Celtic were always liable to counter attack with quick breaks, and shooting from anywhere being there obvious motto, started to look dangerous. But with Luke and Jonathon holding a great line,Celtic found it difficult to penetrate through, and when they did they could not put it pass Dan”Kiraly” Mcdonnell,or the covering fullbacks , Richard and AP . With the ball going from end to end , the ref gets a right decision and gives a freekick, for hand ball just outside the box.Jan floats it over, the ball was bouncing all over the place in the area, bobbles to Dom “Yid ” Loosemore who” slams in the lamb”, yes 2–0,come on lets have it.The half time whistle goes.

After a good team talk at the break, with all involved,we knew what we had to do in the second half.

Well the half got off to a good start, with the first attack,a great ball from Jan,which is met by Eddie who manages to head it just wide, unlucky. It was now evident that Jan could not continue, having pulled a muscle , so the young Joel came on and took up his position on the left flank.Well the oppositions centre back licked his lips and within seconds clattered him, dirty sod , and no bloody booking. From the freekick they broke very quickly, leaving our defence at sixes and sevens, great save Dan”Kiraly” Mcdonnell, lesson has to learnt quickly from this.

With the wind behind Celtic, it looked like Luke was holding a high line with the keeper acting as sweeper, this kept Celtic at a distance, but they were looking very dangerous.Jimmy picked the ball up in midfield, and some great ball work between himself and Dom lead to a through ball to Eddie, who races on pass two defenders with his great pace, and left them for dead. Only the goalkeeper to beat ,Eddie slots it home . Great goal , yes 3-0  we are on the way, but stillonly 17 mins gone in the second half.

For the next ten minutes we had several counter attacks, with Eddie and Joel making a lot of runs into space, with the later still being battered by Celtic’s Old Bloke centre half, when is he going to get booked,it was a much needed relief for the defence to have the ball up the other end.

The defence were now showing there full potential, and after several attacks the back four looked totally disciplined, catching there opponents offside on several occasions. But it was not all one end,Dom put a shot in close, and with Jimmy going more forward, giving the knackered Woz a rest in midfield,a goal threat was always there.

Ryan hits the post , so close , ball is cleared ,they break quickly ,AP is being run inside and out, by there porto whinger(moaned a lot). he is just in the area, he dives ,was it wasn’t it, play on says the blind ref, that was lucky……..Crown break, Jimmy far post , must be another, no, he somehow hits the post making it tremor for a couple of seconds.

They break again, the pressure unbearable as the defence stay resolute, Celtic get a throw,it had to be , yes they sneak one in at the far post. No worries this week as the team are more determined not to lose. The ball goes forward and yet again Joel picks it up, BANG,yes you have got , the clod hopping centre back wacks him again. At last the ref books him.Nothing comes of it.Ball gets put into Eddie again, superb, turns on a sixpence,Bang taken out, again, come on ref your losing control.

The ref did not seem to know where the freekick should be taken from, and without to much sarcasm was told try the place where Eddie’s boot was still lying,he did not see the humour.Jimmy bangs in the freekick, but again no resulting goal.

THAT’S IT,it’s all over ,what agame from The Crown, best game this season, they are now beginning to gel.

The Team all got man of the match as they showed great discipline at the back, good work rate in midfield running tirelessly, and some top running up front with or without the ball. Top job , but a hard game next week, still we should do well on this performance.

This report was written with the aid of notes taken by  Carmen, thanks for your help.

SUNDAY 26TH SEPTEMBER

THE CROWNSPORTS BAR 5 VWINDSOR RED SOX 5

@THE STANLEY TURNER 10.30AM

Well once again we play at The Stanley Turner Ground for the third fixture in a row,a nice an crisp feel about the air with another cold breeze blowing from end to end.

Team News

With M Spragg away on work duty fixing the Pakistani odds for the winter,Eddie Sparks back from injury a straight swap was made, with The Hit Man Mcdonnell dropping back into midfield to accommodate The Sparks up front

Aaron Smith

Jonathon Hill, Luke Greenwood(capt),Jack Mason,Andy Pulford

Dominic Loosemore,Ryan Hodkinson,James Mcdonnell,Jan Kobylak

Eddie Sparks and Micheal Worrell

subs Richard Marriott and Sam Hart

Kick off, with The Crown playing towards the clubhouse,The Red Sox gained a lot possession in the middle of the park, andstartedto confidently pass the ball around , and looked in control for the first 15 mins. Then a quick interchange of passes between Luke and Jack at the back left the latter  with the ball.Jack then slotted the ball through to The Woz(looked more like a clearance) splitting the defence right open. The Woz then steams in on goal and slots it home,1-0,certainly against the run of play, but who cares you take your chances, and make them count.

After then discovering that Rory(the fat bloke) Delap, was playing for The Sox, problems started to appear from his very low trajectory throw ins with Aaron having to be well alert. From one of these throws on 20 mins,Aaron managed to gain possession of the ball, and with a long punt up field puts it straight on the head of The Woz , who in turn nods it through to Eddie, who with lightning pace goes into the area and chips the Keeper, with his signatory toe poke chip. What a goal, chipping the Keeper from the penalty spot does it and it is 2-0.

After yet another through ball, in which Eddie slots it wide, its very clear that the Sox have great passing ability ,no final ball, but look very dangerous , especially from the long throw, with which Aaron has a lot of trouble coping with, due  to the lack of headers made by the defence and his height.

The Crown then get a throw from the left,JP slings her in, misses everyone but gets all the way to the back post. Dom gathers, passes across the goal for , yes you got it,The Hit Man to ram it in from a yard 3-0. Cannot keep up with all this action , pen needs to be quicker, there defence does it again, sloppy at the back lets in Eddie , who cool as a cucumber chips over the on coming Keeper 4-0 with only 26mins gone.

Well The Crown are 4 up and have started to look more confident , with Jan making a few runs, and jonathon keeping things tight on the right, a few one two’s, in total control, along comes half time.

After a well listened to chat, withallcontributing, it was made obvious that we had to keep it tight as they still looked dangerous. With Richard replacing the very steady Jonathon, the half got under way.The Crown started to feel the pressure especially from the long throws(foot being way over the line everytime), but still managing to keep there metal hung on in there.Eddie was then replaced by the Big Man(Sam Hart) upfront and straight away managed to mix it with the help of the Hit Man Mcdonnell.Freekick in our half,my god that was a first from the ref, as he seemed to be very biased to the other team, thrown up high in the middle, Woz was there, great header puts The BigMan in. Get in and have it 5-0 , we are rocking.

Ref still being a plank and some good work from Jan and Woz we get another corner, Jans header goes close. An excellent ball down the right releases Sam who gets the throw, Richard lobs it in , it breaks clear to the Hit Man, who swivvels on a fiver and blasts it goalwards with venom. Top bombing gets one of the opposition straight in the Kisser , the Ref stops play, found his whistle at last!

The Referee now is starting to dominate the game now, ignoring all the freekicksthatshould have been given us,gives the opposition one outside the box. They lob it in,after a goalmouth scramble they shoot, what a save,OH NO! It was not the keeper, it was Dom.Well it gave the Ref an easy decision, red card and penalty. They convert 1-5.

With twenty minutes left what was about to happen was unbelievable,it was that bad that i did not write any notes as i became flabbergasted anddismayed. With the extra man clearly making the difference, and our midfield tiring very quickly, the pressure grew and gradually the Sox came back. The long throws , great one two’s,ref being a right indigenous twat, well 5-5 was the score. It could have been a hammering , but in goal Aaron pulled off four world class saves, thank God.For some reason the ref played an extra 6 mins, which came across to me as being ,apart from Alex Ferguson land, way to much as if he was trying to get the opposition to win.It was not the case as Sam managed to get us a corner after a last minute effort to get victory, corner taken, the ball in mid air,the drama.Well that was it ,Adolf Hitler blew the whistle, sorry Mr Blobby , without the move being finished. After several players asking why he had blown,he went all school teacher on us and produced a yellow card for the luckless Jan………… Ah well still got a point , and hopefully it will be ironed out in training. The man of the match was a close thing , with Eddie looking good ,The Woz working with Ryan tirelessly in a two man midfield, swear it was 4-4-2 at the start, the back four played very well considering what they had to deal with. But it goes to Aaron Smith for his last 15 mins and keeping it a draw with some top class saves.

SUNDAY 19TH SEPTEMBER

ASSOCIATES 3 V THE CROWN SPORTS BAR FC 5

@ THE STANLEY TURNER GROUND @ 10.30 KO

An away game but back at the Stanley Turner,on the other pitch, weather bright with a slight breeze  running straight down the pitch.

Team news

With Eddie injured, Alex away on University duty, Chaz gone busking and Dan getting hitched this was the line up.

gkAaron Smith(6 booked)

rbJonathon Hill(7)lbAndy Pulford(7)cb ack Mason(7)cb Luke Greenwoo(7)

rm dom loosemore(7)lm jan kobylak(7)cm ryan hodkinson(7)cm michealspragg(7)

cf Jimmy Mcdonnell (9) cf Micheal Worrell(8)

subs Sam Hart and Richard Marriot

After a bright start, it was evident that the opposition were very strong in midfield with all three interchanging at regular intervals. With needless free kicks being given away at regular intervals , due to naivety and a bit of petulance, it was surprising that the Crown scored first. On a breakaway attack Jan managed to get to the byline and whip in a venomous cross of warp speed zilch, the keeper and defender decided to both get in each others way and upon leaving the ball Dom the Yid blasted the ball in from , wait for it 5 yards. 1-0 get in.

Well I like to say that after taking the lead you would have thought that it would have given the Crown the impetus to push on for more. But it was not to be with the referee getting more picky on the pushing and tackling, the boys seem to lose their shape and with Aaron getting more work to do they equalised. Aaron made a great save, but could only parry it straight to their  stoutly built winger who slotted home from 3 yards 1-1.

Well the funny ten minutes that the team seem to get, came back to haunt them and with some defensive errors due to the lack of the midfield not closing down properly, Associates scored two quick goals. They even let a portly ageing Bob Marley (more like predator) score with a brilliantly taken headed one two off the bar (NOT). Bollox 1-3.

Half Time whistle could not come quicker, with the team now low on confidence a break was needed. After a few words from all, including the chairman with all listening very politely, a comment was made on have we got the minerals, time to stand up and be counted. Well what a response……….!!!

With the second half under way, it was quick to see that the midfield had started to get a grip releasing Jimmy and Micheal on several occasions. It was the relentless running of Jimmy that gave us the break we needed, closing down their defence on a through ball they made an error from his pressure. Jimmy slotted home an easy ball past there keeper 2-3.

Upon this it was time to put on more pressure, and with Jimmy and Micheal running there defence ragged with there off the ball runs the equaliser was inevitable, way to go Spraggy get in there you beauty, another defensive  error leading to a well taken goal 3-3.

Well we have them worried now, they take the Predator Marley off, replacing him with a bow legged hippie, also putting up front there no.7, who then started to get frustrated and got himself booked for  a continual abusive tirade at the ref. It was not over yet as they continually attacked, giving Aaron plenty to do. But after coming back from injury Aaron was starting to look vulnerable, making a couple of errors. In the last 10 minutes a break was made, Jimmy closed down there defence from a long ball from Aaron , Micheal picked up the cross and yes yes yes yes yes what a come back 4-3, the dog goes wild, Jimmy’s Dad chokes on his burger. what can I say!!!!!!!!!

Associates give them  there due kept plugging away, The Crown were now looking comfortable, with Richard and Sam coming on to replace Spraggy and Jonathon, who bothplayedtherepart in this great team effort. One last attack could it be, YES in you go. Jan gets the ball and slots home at the far post, one hysterical fan goes wild shouting give us a kiss (good old mum) 5-3 no stopping us now. The final whistle goes! What a come back The Crown showed they have the Kahoonas, well done and thanks to the Associates for a good game. Bring on next week.

Man of the match was quite close with Von Ryan and Micheal Worrell putting in good displays, but it goes to Jimmy “Hit Man” Mcdonnell which was quite good considering the hangover he had…………………..

SUNDAY 12TH SEPTEMBER

CROWN SPORTS BAR FC 3 V POLEGATE PHOENIX 4

@ STANLEY TURNER PLAYING FIELDS LEWES @10.30AM

Well here we go the first game of the season, against Polegate Phoenix on what has turned out to be a warm day at the Stanley Turner.Team news is that we have eleven able men with a couple of reserves in tow.

gk dan mcdonnell(7)

rb rich marriott(7)lb jonathon hill(7)cb alex mikolay(7)c luke grenwood(7)

rm dom loosemore(7)lm jan kobylak(7)cm ryan hodkinson(7)cm michealspragg(7)

cf jimmy mcdonnell(7) cf eddie sparks(7)

subs chaz roe(6) sam hart(6)

Excellent start to the half with some great possession but unfortunately nothing to show for it, couple of efforts from Jimmy and a header from Spraggy going close, sure a goal has to come soon.Von Ryan picks the ball up in the middle and eventually getting it under control to slot an inch perfect through ball to Eddie to somehow chipped it over the keeper 1—0. The crowd erupt sorry the dog barked.

After a lot of missed chances or the final ball being of a low standard, they break clear with a one on one on the keeper, great save stood big and gave the corner. Top man Dan. Another attack was abruptly stopped when Eddie was taken out by a nasty tackle from which he had to leave the field for the first of many times during the day. Von Ryan chips in but another chance goes astray . First half comes to end with the crown leading by the solitary goal, should have been more.

Second half gets under way and in fact it was not until Jimmy The Hit Man Mcdonnellslottedhomea header to make it 2–0 it was a bit scrappy. Looking comfortable at this stage points in the bag, it all went Pete Tong. With the midfield seeming to tire leaving a massive gap between themselves and there own defence, Polegate via there pacey winger, some bad refereeing, and I must say some luck as well,The Crown were all of a sudden 4–2 down.

With Spraggy going back to right back and sub Chaz going into midfield (after replacing Rich earlier) was this gap filled. Eddie was then replaced by Sam who seemed to be put on for his pace judging by the number of balls he had to chase (looked more like a target man to me with the ball to feet the only option). The Crown were still in it and put a lot of pressure on Polegate, who seem to leave most players up front to catch The Crown on the break, a mistake was then made with The Hit Man Mcdonnell capitalising on the error to slot it home 4–3.

Come on lets do em, with the urgency back and the last bit of energy used it was not to be. Still even though the result was not in our favour, there was a lot of pluses gained out of this game and hopefully to be discussed at training, the team will recover from what should be only a minor set back and play to there great potential shown in the first half. No man of the match given this week as it was a good team effort so everyone got a 7, but now the chairman knows you all the marks will be different in future. I like to thank all the team and supporters for being in the Crown after the game and hoped you all enjoyed your hot dogs………
